I don't think there is any complete certainty that you will definitely get your money back. Paypal isn't foolproof and there is a very good chance that the seller cleared his funds before paypal got involved. As for credit card companies they seem to vary. Some users have reported that they have received money back almost with no hassle at all, others have had to fight for it and attempt to prove that something wasn't received. I don't know which credit cards are better for paying up though so can't help with that.dodger65 wrote:Fair enough I'd still try contacting ebay though gotta be worth a try you might get something out of them.
btw what does NARUD stand for? Thanks Soo (hopefully I'll never be in a similar position looking for your help M8 fingers crossed :rotfl: )
Sorry, I'm getting a bit bad with using jargon rather than real words. NARU'd means " not a registered user". It does not mean the person has been banned it just means they are no longer registered on ebay, but you can usually assume ebay have caught them for something  . There is no way of knowing though whether a person has been suspended for a set period or for good, so it should not always be assumed that once a person has been NARU'd that will be the end of it.

I feel sick now!0 -
Although I would agree with what everyone else is saying, that much depends on your credit card company, you are in a stronger position if you don't receive the goods, than you are if the goods you receive are not as described.
Ruear - I would seriously think about changing your credit card company!0 -
Don't despair yet, OP!
A similar thing happened to me last month.
I bought (or my son did) a pair of jeans, paid immediately. Next day the listing had been pulled by ebay. I panicked and asked advice on here. I emailed the guy and he said he would be sending them but when they arrived, they were badly made, not the colour ordered and obviously fake!
I opened a dispute with paypal after a week (can't do it before) as guy wouldn't respond to my mail. They advised me to send them back and gave me his address. In the meantime, the guy emails (twice) saying to send them to a completely different address (strange?). Paypal told me only to send to address they gave me. Next day, I posted them and entered the tracking details into the dispute console thingy and day after that I had my refund!
Maybe I was lucky, but I think the fact that the listing was pulled by ebay added weight to my case. I would imagine the fact he has been NARU'D will also help you.
Good luck!

Any thoughts? Should I respond?0 -
3 mates in one email! Personally I wouldn't respond unless it was coming through the dispute console.0

Oh, the hospital story!
Whenever people get caught out lying on ebay they try this.
There was a gut on here a few months ago with a non paying bidder, who said the same thing.
Ignore the email, but keep it incase paypal want to see it.
I hear these bloody sob stories all, day. Strangely enough, it's only people who owe us money...not people we owe money to...strange that...

I think you probably can when the seller has been NARU'd.soolin wrote:I don't think a claim can start though until a week after payment has been sent?
Soo
I had a buyer, a Nigerian scammer to be exact, who's address was made up (silly person picked a postcode very near me with a totally different road name, I checked it in multimap after he asked me to post to Nigeria) so I had his account closed and was able to claim back my final value fees immediately. I know this is a very different situation, but I'd imagine/hope that in the same way Paypal would recognise a NARU'd seller as a qualifyer for an immediate claim.
Anyway, good luck yozzer2006 hope it work out for you0 -
I definitely wouldn't respond to him. Once you have got paypal involved, just take instruction from and deal with them.
I think people attempt to over-ride the system and if you deal with them directly paypal won't entertain any dispute. From reading other posts on here, paypal will drop your case like a stone if you don't follow their procedures to the letter.0 -
Whatever you do don't cancel the paypal claim until your item arrives (if it arrives) and you have fully checked that it works. Once you cancel the dispute it can never be opened again even if the laptop blows up a week later.
