Got some points on my license nearly 4 years ago, I know they'll come off at 5 but I've heard you can apply after 4 to have them removed - how do I do this?

From the DVLA site (https://www.dvla.gov.uk):2. Removing Expired Endorsements
Paper Licence Holders
If you wish to have expired endorsements removed from your driving licence you must complete driving licence application form D1 (previously D750) and enclose your current driving licence together with the appropriate fee. You must also enclose original documentation confirming your identity (click here for a full list of acceptable identity documents) and a passport sized photograph taken against a plain light background (for photograph criteria click here). Send your completed application and fee to DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1AB or you may be able to use the Post Office® Checking Service.
Photocard Licence Holders
If you wish to have expired endorsements removed from your driving licence you must complete driving licence application form D1 (previously D750) and enclose both your photocard licence and paper counterpart together with the appropriate fee. Send your completed application and fee to DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1AB.Weight Loss - 102lb0 -

Jesus that is a rip off!!!
What a con that is, its a bloody piece of paper for christs sake. When I got my points put on, they only wrote on in Biro, if they did it in fountain pen they could use one of those magic erasers and save them selves some more money / charge a bit more!!!

EDIT - am I right in thinking its free to get your address changed on your licence? If I get my address changed then can I also get the points removed free because they have expired so couldn't add them to the new licence?!?0 -
Yep, free to change address

Not sure if they remove the endorsements at the same time for free though.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

I don't mind paying the £60 I got fined as it was my fault, but paying £19 for the privelege is a rip-off, sure I paid a similar amount when I recently switched to a photo license, what a bit con.
p.s. I would thank you both but the buttons disappeared! Maybe later...2p off is still 2p off!0 -
I remember paying £11 to get a photo license instead of my paper one - I wanted one so I was able to prove my age for buying pop!
I dont think that I am going to pay for my points to be removed - Ill leave them on rather than pay to have them taken off. So many people have points on their license now!
Am I right in thinking that if the points had expired but not been removed and I got some more that they would be able to take the old ones off and replace them with the new? Or is that too easy for them?!

Surely life wouldn't be that easy now, would it?hjb123 wrote:I remember paying £11 to get a photo license instead of my paper one - I wanted one so I was able to prove my age for buying pop!

I've "lost" points from my licence during address changes, many years ago when I had a pink thingy
In the United Kingdom 200,000 people are bitten by dogs every year and some people will die as a result. Of those bitten, 70% are children... So the question has to be asked....... Has the time come to ban children?0 -
Why do you need to to get the points removed??? I still have points on my license from 1997 but I no longer need to tell my insurer as they only want to know about points in the last 5 years. Whats the point of paying £19 when you don't have to declare them anyway after 5 years? If you found my comment helpful, please click the 'Thanks' button below :T0
