I went to camber this year on a sun holiday and was amazed to see it was exactly the same decor as when i went as a kid 25years ago!!

yes it is rather shabby but if you use it as a base only to go visit other places such as rye and hastings then i think it is fine. might only be a problem if you dont have a car and are abit stuck there.

also the beach there is lovely so deffo worth a visit in the summer
  • I went to Brean Sands this year, and found it fine. We all had a great time, the accomodation was basic which is all i expected but was very clean.

I can't believe that people look down their noses at pontins and at the people who go there...after all its a cheap family holiday and isn't this site about moneysaving?! There was actually some very nice families there...

There's a saying that in it's correct entirety escapes me, but goes something along the lines of...

"if you can't see the problem, then you are the problem" lol.

Even our car insisted on a full pressure wash the moment we left the park gates.

I have read this thread and cannot believe the attitude of some people.
We have been on many holidays over the last 40 years that have ranged from camping, villas, all inclusive long and short haul destinations, hotels in the uk etc and have even stayed at Pontins Camber Sands.

Yes it is in need of some modernisation. But its a case of being adaptable as human beings. Each holiday fits its own needs. In the case of Pontins it is a cheap place for a quick getaway, taking family members so all the children and grandchildren can mix and socialise together. However I agree it is not the sort of place for a long main holiday.

Regarding the comment ' if you cant see the problem then you are the problem ' that is utter rubbish. We are a older couple with two grown up children, dont drink, drive a new car, live in own house, quiet and law abiding.
  • well, i know its a bit tatty, and could really do with a much needed facelift, but we love pontins, we use the beach which is my favourite, love the sand dunes, and my kids kove it too, when we were there in july i heard pontins had just bee bought out, so maybe next year we will see some changes taking place, and heard they are going to gradually do the whole place up!!!....cant wait
  • We went on one of the £10 holiday to Camber Sands last year in budget accomodation. We had the best time ever the pool was great for our 2 years old, there were a couple of drunk ppl who pontins made leave the park. We have been to loads of UK parks but enjoyed ourselves best there, I know it does need some paint but our room was clean.

Last year was a second holiday but this year we are really skint and were hpoing this deal would come about again. I know not everyone likes it but it's a cheap holiday and after a rough year I need it.

I have also booked to go again this year, Thanks so much OP.
  • we went to southport last year, and we are not posh by anymeans, but wer vowed NEVER to go back to a pontins site, the accomadation was grubby, the railings on outside of building were really badly rusty.

The evenings entertainment was oh ish, but the venue, the floors were sticky, the tables were sticky, and this was at the beginning of the night.

but to be fair the kids entertainment was ok when the done a treasure hunt.
    relynutz says it all :o
  • Went to Camber Sands last year with my DD, OH and MIL.......yucky poo. The beach down the road was lovely and we made sure we were out of there asap "in da the morning" (go Egypt...lol) and made the most of the surroundings, DAY TRIPS ETC. The floor was rickety and they put us up on the first floor with a disabled person (even when there was groundfloor apartments. We also upgraded and it was still CRAP!! THE WHOLE PLACE IS OLD N TATTY, SMELLY AND NEEDS TO BE KNOCKED DOWN AND REBUILT IN THE 00'S!! IMO ; )

Sent them an outraged letter and got a full refund on our payment!!! : )

I find some peoples comments very hurtful. Theres always someone that has to put others down.

    This is a great deal.

I don't drink, we have our own house, we have our own business, we have our own car, we have a 4 year old son, we are NOT criminals.... BUT we have no money, we struggle to pay our bills and get the weekly shop, we certainly can't afford a holiday! So to have the chance of a holiday for £25!!...I wouldn't turn my nose up at that!

I'm glad you aren't in the same position as me and can afford a somewhat nicer holiday.

Why can't people just keep their opinions to themselves? If i come accross a post on here which is no use to me i just go onto the next one, why can't other people do the same??

I do appreciate other peoples opinions, and other peoples experiances do help me to decide whether or not i want to purchase something, but making we are drunk violent thugs just because we are skint! Thats not on.
:starmod: May all your wishes come true! :starmod:
  • BTW Sorry OP you're just trying to help out some folk on here,,,but we do have our opinions and should be able to express them freely.

Some peeps cuppa tea...NOT MINE I'M AFRAID
