just phoned w.h.smiths and spoke to a friendly chap who said that the w.h.shiths management were very aware of this "situation" with the box sets

Just read this. Sounds good when it reaches management level. I think i'll email them and warn of "consequences" if they do not honour (Watchdog)

Is it worth contacting Watchdog? These companies hate the bad press they get. Perhaps worth hanging on to those order numbers?

I didn't think it would work with tesco, but it did, so it's worth a try, the more who contact watchdog, the better.
Tesco made the mistake though of emailing everyone saying they can't get stock, then they put the gamecube on sale at the full price.

Taken from their terms & conditions...

Our policy is to cancel orders if we have been unable to supply books within 60 days, or any other items within 45 days, with the exception of products that have not yet been released or that are reported as reprinting.

Mine was cancelled after 4 days. I dont think they even tried to get supplies of this DVD box set.

Could someone list the contact details of Watchdog??
I used to work for WHSmiths and trust me they really dont want bad press, lets just say there current situation in regards to the business is not where they would like to be.

Just had the same thing for the LOTRs box set as well.

Just spoke to someone at WHSmith and it was almost like they were reading it off a script.

I'll be contacting tradings standards and Watchdog.
