What a difference 24 hours can make - yesterday they had dd on nil-by-mouth ready for theatre again as they thought she had internal bleeding and were waiting on blood samples to confirm - luckily she didn't. Today she was 'ordering' (in the nicest possible sense) nurses and me and taking a few steps with physio. She is back taking fluids and hoping to eat really soon - in fact she is talking about food all the time - she hasn't been interested in food since October - that is soooooo good to hear - as she has gone to skin and bone. I'm going home tomorrow after visiting - parting will be hard, but has to be done now immediate danger has past. I will come back again if things change. They are hoping she might be home before next week-end. I am however very wary about such predictions as they told me that after a week and I was in 6 weeks!!

It is so spooky that her intestine perforated - it is 4 years since mine did the same - hers on 3rd Jan - mine on 4th Jan. I was really worried when they had her nil-by-mouth ready for theatre again as I thought history was repeating itself - I had to have a second op ofter a few days. It has been good to be there with her but it brought back a lot of memories that I thought I'd coped with - but seeing her go through similar experiences really got to me - had a few sleepless nights. Not sure which is worse seeing the patient or being the patient!!!

I asked dd if she was scared having seen me and thinking the same would happen to her - funnily she said it had made it easier because if they had needed a bag - it wouldn't have been nice but she knew exactly what they were and that you could lead a full life with one. Annndddd... that if I could get over it 'at my age' she could too - I'll let her off with comments like that just this once since she's poorly LOL.

Better go to sleep now - emotional day tomorrow me thinks. Hope I don't get snow bound on the train

Back home now - wasn't good parting but dd was worrying about me missing work - so me staying would have been counter productive. Leaving sort of proved to her that she is improving because she knows I wouldn't have left if she wasn't.

She is young, fit and very positive though - so I am hoping for big improvements next time I see her.

My head mustn't be with it yet - I've been looking for my hearing aids all morning - just spotted them in THE WASHING MACHINE :eek::eek::eek: - I'm quite worried incase they don't work - will have to manage without them as I can't afford to buy any (I do hear - just miss certain sounds)

Wish we could re-wind and start this year again

I'm back at work tomorrow - that will be quite tricky because they are a great bunch of ladies :A and will be concerned both for me and dd - I've asked that they don't bombard me with questions as I'm not sure I'm up to telling the tale many times- I can text and type but not too good at using my voice as it keeps having a tendency to choke up - :o - and kindness sometimes makes me crumble. I'm more a practical help and warped sense of humour gal rather than 'there-there it'll be ok' sympathetic kid.

Ah well - better go and see if my hearing aids are clean yet :rotfl::rotfl::eek:
