You're on a moneysaving forum and yet you are clearly unaware of the latest offers from certain networks for transferring numbers.I smell a troll
Good one. Must be easy to type knowing you won't see me face-to-face.You've already gave them your address once
I must admit, you have a very valid point. I guess the only reason I don't want to give them my address again is because this time they will hold it on an account. And a sim is not active until you have topped it up
I am sick of this rumour that O2 sims are unactivated until you topup. The truth is, as soon as you insert the sim into the phone, it is ACTIVATED. If you don't believe me, try ringing or texting the number. For you to own that number, you must activate the SIM so that it is allocated to you. To do this, you must top up.
Wrong. No matter how much you topup, you will never "own" a number because O2 consider your payments as line rental....you think you have a right to PAC out to another network?
Yes. I do. Care to argue your point?I can see how your attitude will get you far in life

Ok, let's start from the other pont of view - why won't O2 give out a PAC to someone person who totally refuses to give any identifying details?
Well, if I lost my phone, or even left it out of my sight for a few minutes, would I want someone to pick it up, contact the network, and port the number away from me without my knowledge?
No.
I don't reckon that makes them a target for insults and trolling posts on internet forums; I respectfully suggest they are protecting the interests of their customers, albeit some are apparently unable to realise how or why.
The network doesn't already have your address, as posting them to you doesn't constitute registering them to the final user, as you might have then given them to anyone, perhaps friends not even in the same country, and the SIM details therefore aren't recorded before despatch.0 -

Ahh, he wants to port to Orange and get the free £10 for porting in.
On most networks the number doesn't go live on the servers until it's been used. If it's not live it's not possible to generate a pac code.0 -
right fine you want free 10 sorry for msising that one
still just give them your address and they'll send you one problem sortedWhat goes around-comes around0 -
I just wondered does anyone know why BT Mobile will not give me a pac code so that I can transfer my number to 3 mobile. they said something about only being able to port to 02 and vodafone? is this legal?
Where did all my money go??0 -

This isn't a rumour I have had some new o2 sims recently, if you don't top up the number cannot receive calls, it gives out an automated msg that the number cannot receive calls (not verbatem)0 -
Sim cards are valid as in you can pop them into a handset straight away, and it will show "O2", but to activate a sim (so it can be used etc etc), it needs to be topped up, that verifies you want that sim and that number, and registers the now active sim on the network - otherwise it appears as inactive on back office systems I believe.~*Cerenia*~

If payg sim cards are not activated until you have topped them up then how comes I can receive calls on some of my sim cards not topped up? I obviously cant make outgoing calls but surely the sim has now been activated by receiving calls.0
