If you are going to bham jewellery quarter or hatton garden then let me tell you, YOU CAN HAGGLE. The prices you see online or they quote are not set in stone. I got the price down by getting prices from several jewellers and playing them off against one another. but equally you could just say 'for a ring of x quality i would only be looking to spend x amount' and see what they say ;)

  • Hi there Kavanne. These are the rings I like. We will have to order online as Bham is 4 hours away and London 6 hours. Do you think we can haggle on these prices. Let me know what you think and if anyone thinks we can get the same rings cheaper anywhere else

  • I was wondering what the significance of feathers are? I was looking at a VS2 diamond, which is listed as having a feather. What sort of questions should I be asking?

    Thanks in advance.
  • a feather is just a type of inclusion that looks like a feather - its a tiny fracture in the diamond crystal, but its not something to worry about, when the clarity is above SI2.

If the inclusion/feather was close to the surface, then the grading report may note this, and if the feather broke the surface of the diamond, then again this would be noted.

the full cert has a clarity plot of all the inclusions (or at least AGS certs do, i cant remember if GIa certs do) but they so the position of any inclusions - and you look to see if any of them are against the edge of the stone

    Hello,
I'm off on holiday soon and have a plan to propose to my GF as the sun is setting at the Grand Canyon (not too close to the edge...just in case ;-))

I am considering buying a cheap ring for the actual proposal so that we (she) can choose a ring she actually wants another time...plus it saves the worry of losing it during our travels!!

Whilst I don't want to spend much for the "dummy ring" I still want it to be nice and sparkly...so does anyone have any recommendations about places/websites I might look for such a ring?

    Thanks.
