I would make a claim on both of my bank accounts, but, if they decided to close my accounts, I would assume that they would require immediate payment of all outstanding monies and as I have OD, CC and loan with both of them:eek: (part of the reason I am in the mess i'm in now!) I would not have a snowballs chance of paying them.

make_life_easier wrote:I know of 2 £30 charges that my son has had within the past 12 month totalling to £60, can I claim these back for him, what is the letter I send, these charges were for paying bills when he had gone over his overdraft. I wasn't going to tell him so it would be a nice supprize if he got them back instead of raising his hope, is there a chance he would get them back??
I got just under £3k back last week - it is unbelievably easy, even though mine wasn't settled until it had hit small claims court, (when I could apply 8% APR interest - nice) - it literally took 3 letters, and one small bit of text in a box on the moneyclaim website
As most claims seem to be being settled before it gets to the stage mine did, no one has anything to lose - and everything to gain! Got to be worth the price of a few stamps IMHO.

Yes, you can do it with credit cards, store cards, anything where you have been charged punitive fees for late payments/excess ODs/bounced payments/etc.
No, it doesn't matter if the account has been closed for years.

I would recommend anyone thinking of claiming these unfair bank charges back check out consumeractiongroup.co.uk. On here there are so many people having just claimed or in the process of claiming that there will always be someone to help. There is a FAQ section and also templates of all letters to send to your bank so they know that you are serious and not going to give up. There is also a survey that people fill in when they have had their charges back and this is broken down ito each individual bank so you know on average how long your bank take to settle claims and also how many claims they have already settled.
Hope this helpsBoro Cass

That is unbelievable news! I have read all the threads with interest about people trying to reclaim these extortionate charges back from the banks but an amount that big is stunning
Just goes to show how much they rake in via these sickeningly high charges.
Great news, pleased for you0 -
Hi everyone,
I submitted my small claim court claim for £743 (max can claim in Scotland is £750 at small claims level) yesterday - and am totally cr*pping myself about it possibly going to court. Just have to hold my nerve now...
There is also a thread started by southernscouser called DFW Bank Charges Reclaim Thread - don't have time to search for the link now but its got lots of advice and people's stories in it.
Good luck everyone and well done Mr P.! (however, I only wish it had been that easy for me!)
