My Ongoing Challenge - To live with my means

well smack my backside for lack of postings - have no excuse as lovely laptop is fixed again:j:j just hope she stays fixed for more than 2 weeks this time!!!
Thanks to some careful meal planning (& the use of £15 nectar points, rarely shop in sainsburys so it was good time to use them!) I came in UNDER budget for groceries despite the 5 weeks month & Mr Lurker trying to derail the budget train on the two occassions he 'helped' with the shopping. Was £8 under so instead of being completely sensible I bought BIG bucket of bird food - have to feed the feathered friends (especially when one is the reincarnation of beloved pet - yup its true I should be certified)
the tightness of the budget is getting me down at times, need to find a bit more leeway but short of dumping sky sports I can't see many ways of doing that & I am I reluctant to do that as the TV is our entertainment.....
I guess this budgetting lark is still a work in progress & it will get easier - maybe by January I'll have a better grip - thats also when I'd like to be in a position to work some weekend overtime - I'd start now but I think I'd be too much of a burden on my colleagues - am already that during the week, can't add to it at weekends!!!I do not make mistakes, I learn lessons.I work to live, not live to work.I love to live & live to love.Good enough is exactly that.0 -
Glad things are going well! I know what you mean about the tight budgets but that is why I do the Make £10 a day challenge so I can make some extra!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I've still got your bingo advice to take....but haven't got around to it!!!
Not doing too badly with list of jobs for tonight - 2 very simple ones left.....& yet still I put it off!!!
Not eaten yet, waiting for his nibs to get home - he didn't think he'd be any later than 8....famous last words there. Am not complaining though - he gets £25 a hour from this secret 'hush hush can you do work for us when we need you to please' source - pity the work itself is so sporadic!

woo hoo Hump day!
stuggled to get through today - lots of pre-cold feelings, achey head, neck body etc. Doubt it will develop though, at least not until the weekend!
was very organises this morning, put jacket spud in the oven so it would be ready for when I got home - managed to get a lift instead of the bus which meant i had time to make some cakes & chuck them in the oven at same time...yum yum, cake mix!!
have also made sauce for spag bol for tomorrow night - don't think its going to be quite as nice as the last one but I can hope
Gave in to the munchies (medicinal of course) & bought muffin which wasn't as tasty as I'd hoped but it was needed! also spent on the works lottery & deposit for xmas meal - that will be the last spend of the week though so its only one SD - am doing fairly well with the NSDs.....could actually hit target this month!
Not in the mood to iron, but want to do something with my hands so think I may get the knitting out - am novice sp just doing squares which i hope to eventually sew together & make cat blanket, but its taking time!!

I'm doing my first lot of overtime tomorrow!!!!:j:j
is it sad that I felt the doldrums start to leave me when it was agreed I could work?!!!
no idea what the rate is or when it will be paid but I DON'T CARE - there will be more pennies in a pay packet at some stage
