One of my friends has swine flu which means our night out tonight is cancelled - big fat bummer on socialising scale but its saved me £20!
working tomorrow morning, & then the supermarket run awaits
We've had extra Tesco vouchers in post this week - £8.50 thank you very much & 2 christmas cards from very organised rellys!!!
general money saving is slow going but should pick up in January as thats when I should get paid for the overtime
very tempting to stay on here for ages, but I think an early night with Kitty is the order of the day - have suitcases under the eyes which is not pretty!
have good weekend peoplesI do not make mistakes, I learn lessons.I work to live, not live to work.I love to live & live to love.Good enough is exactly that.0 -

I've really been neglecting this...
Have loosened the reigns a little in the run up to silly season - but not let go completely
Spending is within weekly budget, Grocery shop looking to be within budget again for the month. Credit Card is still in purse, but only coming out for grocery shop (& then being paid off)
Completed 90% of Mr Lurkers Christmas present buying on Wednesday - thank you internet via quidco - just over £10 in cash back there. Still got mine to sort out, but have no ideas which is what is causing the problem!
Avoiding the vending machine is easy as there is a permanent table of goodies at work these days.....needless to say the weight loss is not happening...complete opposite in fact, but I think this will have to be tackled in 2010 - funny how so much goes on hold this time of year!
need to get washing machine on before I go & pick Mr L up from his boozy night out with the boys....hopefully he won't have that bad a hangover as I want to get lights put up on the outside of the house & get tree all pretty & glitteryI do not make mistakes, I learn lessons.I work to live, not live to work.I love to live & live to love.Good enough is exactly that.0 -
Hope you manage to get the lights up soon - I think they are so cheerful to come home to - I am always sorry to take mine down!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Well its been a quiet Christmas in the Lurker household - mainly because the week before Christmas Mr Lurker came down with a bug....which he passed to me for Christmas Eve....we did still get to my parents for Xmas Day, but with hindsight should probably have stayed at home because my poor mum now has it!! She thinks its actually swine flu ...... so sorry dad, guess you're next!
A week on & I am still suffering with the cough & bleugh feeling and am really fed up of it - no work for a week & haven't been able to do anything with it!!!
I have a £50 gift card to spend thank you to Father Christmas (well MiL), and so far have 'virtually' spent it 3 or 4 times over. It is going to mean a 20 mile trip to big town as local one doesnt have many retailers that accept the card....so that means extra temptation....not that I'm in any fit state to shop right now!
Not going to make any New Year Resolutions - that way I can't beat myself up when I give up!!
However, the meal planning, budgetting, decluttering plan is to be resumed, as is getting proper quality time with MrL & maintaining a positive mental attitude...
Happy new year folks

Its a little late, but hello 2010!!:hello:
after 2 weeks of feeling bleugh, I think I am finally on the mend although yesterday was hard as the first day back at work!
Its payday in 10 days & I've got a little confused as there appears to be an extra £40 in my current account....not that I am complaining.
Also, haven't touched my weekly spends account for the last 2 weeks which means theres £40 there too - am hopeful that I won't need to touch next weeks either so may be able to start the 2010 budget ahead for once!
Today was spend day as i have to get bus home (£1.80) and because of that I collected a book that I had ordered (£6.97) but 4/5 days as NSD is a pretty good start.
Am attempting to complete 10 little tasks each evening before becoming a complete couch spud - have done 7 of tonights jobs so far - catching up with diaries is proving to be too big a distraction!:o
Pedometer experiment is going well am over 7000 today, yesterday was 4000 - got a way to go, but it shows how it all adds up.
had an attempt at making flapjack on Sunday - it was a little hard on top but really quite tasty so will make it again......& we wonder why our wastelines are expanding!!!!
ok, time to finish the job list....I do not make mistakes, I learn lessons.I work to live, not live to work.I love to live & live to love.Good enough is exactly that.0 -
