    Morning all!

Girls all went back to school today and ds goes back tomorrow, whoopee! Much as I love having them all at home it'll be lovely to get back to routine and not to keep finding the fridge is empty!

Have caught a cold and so went back to bed after seeing the girls off, sleeping it off was my plan - feel more human now so it must be working, also having plenty of garlic and vit c, oh is gonna love me tonight! Still only got this evening at work and then off until 14th Sept, so should have plenty of time to recover, just want to be better before Monday when we're off to France though.

OS stuff today will involve throwing a loin of pork into the SC with some apples and stock, will then slice and portion and freeze - will keep some out for dinner tomorrow with roasties. Tonight's dinner will be something involving pork and rice as have some to use up, and it's nice and quick too. Will also be doing more washing, cleaning bathrooms and binning rubbish from the sitting room.

Need to have a clean in the dining room, which is where the kittens spend most of their time, want to get them using the rest of the house and going outside soon - they are slowly getting used to us, they hadn't really been handled at all and so can be a bit hissy and scratchy at times still.

Hope everyone has a good day, I'm going to make a cuppa and have a catch up xx

  • Afternoon everyone

Been awol for a few weeks because i could,nt get my head round being back home!! I found it really hard to settle and get back into my routine. The weather doesn,t help either as its grey, cold and wet here today.

Had two dogs for a week which was lovely. Made 20 pots of marmalade [diabetic] to order and have an order for 10 pots of apple and date chutney for the same customer so things are beginning to fall back into place :D Bread dough is proving and stew in sc smells delicious. This should give me 4/5 meals for the days i can't be ar****d to cook :rolleyes2

DS3 and the family in germany have settled back after their hols and dgs started his senior school on the 12 august and is loving it,dgd unicycles everywhere which drives her mum mad as she has to take it to and from school every day, and mum can't unicycle :rotfl:

Diva - glad your oh is safe and well after the crash. Perhaps for your menu plans you could just have a mince day, so could end up as burgers, bolognese, chilli, a chicken day, stir fry, curry, wrapped in bacon, a sausage day, casserole, toad in the hole, with mash. That way he wouldn't be confined to just one idea and you'd still be able to menu plan and shop.

Fairy elephant - good luck with your interview, the redundancy package is shoddy, guess it's a sign of the times. Enjoy your hol and relax and be pampered!

Kathy - glad you newest dgd is doing well, and her mum and dad of course! I'm jealous of your peach tree, only fruit trees I have are a small apple and a large crab apple - though that is great for crab apple and chilli jelly.

Welcome to all the new people who've appeared, it's great here, everyone is really friendly and full of amazing ideas.

  • I hope its a good afternoon for everyone.

Diva- glad your DH is ok.

Pixie1 - you are so lucky - I went to Australia for a month last year travelled from Cairns down to Sydney - and loved it - QSLD was the best - I would love to move out there.

Mioliere - congrats on grandaughter - mine has just turned a year old - herself and mum (ex - DIL - yes its complicated) is currently living with me - she is at the solicitors at the moment trying to get the house back off her ex.

Tired mum- you obviously have neighbour issues - some people are just sick - hope you DD2 is ok and not too shaken up

Maitine hope your tonsils are not too sore and heal soon.

I have been off work sick since last Tuesday - have had swine flu or a really bad cold - don't know which - and I need to resume today - so i can go in for my next shift on Friday - but really don't want to. I have not left the house in over a week - and i think my get up and go - has got up and gone - need to be careful or will end up seriously depressed. Go back to work on late turn which I don't like anyway but must find the motivation from somewhere.

I forgot to get my chicken thighs out of the freezer last night - was going to do curry in the slow cooker today - oh well - will have to do it the old way.

Not sure what I'm going to do for the rest of the day yet - might just take it easy.

Thank you everyone for your welcomes yesterday - its nice to be acknowledged.

    Bye for today

Shell - take care after the flu - DH and I felt washed out for a good couple of weeks. being cooped up drove me mad too but then when I did venture out I was all wobbly and had to come home!

2 kitchen cupboards cleaned out and re-lined yesterday. *Might* do more this afternoon but depends on how far I go on my walk with dogs. That sounds a better thing to do.

Have been having another clear out and loads of stuff gone into bin (not worth charity shop). Will do another trawl through CDs and DVDs/ videos.

Nice to see lots of newbies!

Good to see oldies as well:p

  • Thanks for all your good wishes!

Well - the interview went better than expected! I think I have given them a lot to think about!!! They hope to decide by the end of the week - so we shall see. If they don't offer me one of the jobs they will have to give very clear interview feedback and be very sure of their scoring criteria (which I shall ask for copies of) otherwise I may have a case for taking them to a tribunal according to ACAS (as I am currently the only part-timer, although I have said I am willing to go back to full time, and the only pregnant one....they have to be ulta-careful that I can't claim discrimination - haha!). Not that I really want to relocate, but I also don't want to lose out on Maternity Benefit either...so don't know really whether I hope they offer me a job or not!

PS - Peyton, I have frozen made-up sarnies before! Just wrapped in plastic bags, but thenfind they defrost better if you take them out of the bags and put then ina sarnie-box whilst still frozen. Wholemeal bread seemed to work better than white - maybe it is drier to start off with and doesn't seem so 'soggy' when defrosted IYKWIM?

    Hello to everyone.
MSD good wishes to your DH.

We realised yesterday, when we had to do CPR on the car again (literally, bouncing up and down on the engine) that it was really time for it to go. The MOT would have been due in 6 weeks and it would have had an open-ended bill, the problem has been there for a year but no-one knows what it is so it can't be fixed.
So we sold it. It's got a low mileage, just 27,000, but lots of years and if someone mechanical can play with it and get it going it could go for another 70,000 because it's a diesel. We just aren't mechanically minded.

We considered replacing it with a van, which could be used for transporting logs, dogs and hens, but we have decided to try being a one car household for two months to see if we really need a second vehicle.

We are both on holiday this week so we are now cleaning out the kitchen cupboards and moving the electrical bits like popcorn makers and ice cream makers into more accessible places so they actually get used instead of gathering dust.
