MSD Glad to hear your hubby seems ok from the crash. If the headache returns, encourage him to see a doctor as he could have a concussion.
From yesterday's thread..Will be heading off to snoozeland soon, but before then, has anyone got any good ideas on soft/smooth food that I can serve to my husband on his birthday (7th Sept).
We know about mash, blitzed soups, yoghurt, cream, sorbets, ice-cream etc. But I cant think of a suitable menu to dish up.
Portions are to be small as he hasnt had proper food since January (has a feeding peg in), but I really want him to have something special and tasty.
Welcome to Pixie
Purple Ivy Thanks for the porridge idea for breakfast. That sounds perfect for this morning.
Good morning all. Weather here seems to be changing every half hour today. A very grey start to sun to rain to grey. The forecast is for a lot of rain late this evening and overnight. I want to get into the garden and do some weeding as it's gotten quite bad.
I'll be doing some batch cooking today. SC full of bolognese sauce with plenty of veg also for freezing. I finally tried it with red lentils added and we both really liked it. Gives it a lovely flavour and don't use nearly as much meat. Making a spicy butternut and carrot soup as I have veg to use up. Also a chicken to cut up and freeze. It is very large so should make at least 4 meals for us plus stock.
It's our eldest daughter's (actually DIL but she's ours too) birthday today. We celebrated with her yesterday so will call later on.
Send DH off to work with his packed lunch. Managed to get YS packs of corned beef for 20p each so have frozen a lot. I've finished the ironing this morning so a quick tidy and hoover will do for today. I know I've seen it on OS and can't find it now so can anyone tell me if you can freeze sandwiches with meat etc on them? And if so, how to? Thanks!
Totally waffling now, sorry. Have the best day you can today. Lots of ((((((((GentleHugs)))))))) to all who want/need one.

Morning all - Glad you OH is ok Money saving Diva - shame about the car, but that can be repaired!
Thanks again for all the welcomes guys.
Well DS is off to school - DD starts back next week as she has the transistion from Nursery School to reception. I need to get to the shops today for school pumps as the ones I bought are tooo big. And I took DS and DD to get feet measured last week - no change from school shoes sizes but DS put his shoes on today and they are too small!! Will have to run him to town this evening before I go to w*rk.
This morning so far, I've washed up, put away, hung a load of washing up (inside), put another on and hoovered!! And got DS and DD showered, dressed and breakfasted!! Thats a record for me, esp seen as I got DS to school early!! I must set my alarm for 6:30 every day!! So I really don't know what to do with myself today - well actually I do, I've got loads!! I've still got an OU assignment to do (which has an extension till Sat), a huge pile of ironing, name tags to be sown in the LO's uniform, meal plans and shopping lists to do, maybe a bit of exercise - but small steps!!
(As you can tell, I do tend to waffle a bit so apologies!!)
Anyway - must get on with bits and pieces.

Sorry to hear about the car MSD.
Well done on selling Harry's eggs Tru. :T
Hope you had a great anniversary Aussie. x
Another busy day in Haribo land. A friend brought us a 7lb sea trout last night so OH has just gutted it and I have prepped a court bouillon to poach it in the fish kettle tonight. The head and tail are boiling as we speak for fish soup so I'll go down to the pier later and get some prawns for that. We'll have a few friends round tonight to help us eat it. He also brought us a big lamb neck fillet from a gamekeeper friend so I need to do something with that. May try Delia's navarin of lamb. Had planned to do pork stroganoff for tea tonight so will cook and freeze that for another night.
Have just dug up some more spuds to have with the fish tonight along with a HG cabbage and carrots.
Finally finished the knitted bunnies yesterday for the girls and they have gone down a storm so I will use that pattern again.
The rest of the day will be filled with the school gardening club as they are bringing in the harvest today :j. I can't wait to see their faces when they dig up the spuds.
Better go and get doggie walked.

Was sure I posted yesterday but can't find it now! Duh!
Welcome to all the Newbies!
Glad that you are feeling better Hilstep and that your DD's scan went well - such a relief isn't it!
MSD, sorry about OH's accidentbut glad he is OK.
I'm waiting to go for an interview for 'my' job today (you might remember my ongoing 'redundancy' issues!) - well there's 3 of us, 2 jobs, and both are being 'relocated' halfway up the country, in the office where the other 2 work already...so I wouldn't place any bets on my being offered one of the positions!!!!!!!!!!!! Got to 'jump through the hoops' though, even if I do think it's a waste of time (then they'll give me...wait for it...3 weeks pay as a redundnacy settlement - WOW!).
The 'bump' seems to be doing well - making me less sicky at the moment, which is great (apart from when I clean my teeth, or forget to eat regulalarly enough!).I'm wearing a 'smart' dress today and 2 people ahve already said to me 'you really look pregnant now!' (in a nice way!) so I am actually quite pleased!
OS has been a bit thin on the ground lately! Was away for long w/e in (mostly) sunny Bude, and this Sat we are off for a week on a canal-boat (DH's latest obsession - LOL!) so mainly trying to use up bits of food in the house and get washing etc done to pack. Off to SIL's for tea tonight and 'holiday planning' (they are coming with us, and both our Mum's are too!) so no cooking for me to do - yay!
Hope everyone has a good day!

Good morning, I was too tired to do much yesterday, apart from make scotch pancakes (they worked very well) as ds had a nightmare in the night and ended up in our bed. I was then poked, prodded and pushed every 3 minutes for the rest of the night. The evil migraine that I thought I'd dispatched in the morning came back at night, so I was feeling a bit rough most of the day.
Ds doesn't usually come in my bed (about 6 times so far in his whole life), so I was horrified when he shouted me again last night! I ended up sitting on a chair in his room until he fell asleep. he is not coming in my bed again, but it took a long time, and it was 1am before I got to bed. I need to live next door to Bitsy so that we can take turns sleeping.
I am tired again today, but this evenings meals are coming from the freezer, as I'm doing the grocery challenge, so I don't have too much to do. Quiche for me, with some left over potatoes from an M&S £10 thingy, and some salad. Lamb stew for ds who has never eaten an egg.
I need to do a bit of cleaning round and would like to get out for some fresh air but it's raining again  How can it rain for the entire last week of the school holidays? So unfair!
MSD keep an eye on Mr MSD. Whiplash can take a few days to develop - hope he's Ok though.
Take care all of you0 -
Good luck Fairy. When I was made redundant they actually closed the HR dept as well as ours and a few of the girls in there were pregnant. I don't think they were offered any other job. One seemed to leave almost immediately I think to another job and the other one they just kept on for a while until she was due to leave anyway.Hope it all works out for you to your satisfaction. xWhat Would Bill Buchanan Do?0

Hi would love to join you lot in the hope of getting a bit of OS motivation. I'm off shopping in a bit for school shoes and food shopping, I really want to be organised when it come to meals and a bit healthier. At the momen all I do is off to the supermarket run round chucking stuff in the trolly, forgeting various things then once home wonder what to cook for tea. I work in a supermarket so quite often check out the reduced section in the hope of inspriation for a cheap tea. If I make a list more often than not I leave it at home. If I remember to take it with me I never stick to it. I'm off work this week so am really trying to get organised as I'm having an op on my arm on oct 1st (day before my !st wedding anniversary!) and wont be able to use it for 4-6 weeks. I have a bread maker and a slow cooker. We are a family of me, hubby, a daughter 16 and a son 8. I have a lovely new kitchen and a new utility so have loads of worktop space which I never had before, this is brill apart from when there is an empty surface how come the rest of the family feel the need to put something on it?!?! It really annoys me and drives me mad but no-one listens and I end up putting everything away then no-one knows where anything is and all I hear is " mommmmm where is my ......."
Sorry about the long rambling post but it very much shows the state of my head, lots of things to do but don't know where to start!
Thankyou for being patient,
Weeze x0 -
Hi Everyone.
When I read through this thread, everyone seems to be so efficient and good at OS... I want to be like that when I grow up
I had a bit of an OS disaster yesterday though, I made some chicken stock and decided to make some soup with the leftover vegetable that I have (onions, cauliflower, brocolli, carrots and a potato) and it was absolutely disgusting. A big pan of green mush! I did try it just in case (had to keep my eyes shut as it looked like sick:rotfl::rotfl:) and it taseted worse than it looked if that was possible.
I think I will stick to my split pea soup in future then....
Off work this week so enjoying the last week off with the kids.... Just found out that me and OH have both managed to get our holidays next year for the first two weeks in August so we can have a family holiday but not sure what to do... I know whatever we choose will be mega expensive so all the more reason to be OS.
This afternoon, I need to post some books to people from swaps that I have done on www.readitswapit.co.uk and one of the kids wii games that they sold on e bay and I need to list some more things on e bay as dd is seven in 3 weeks and is having a big party (too big for my liking) for 30 kids with a magician and clown and disco so we are trying to make £200 to pay for it. Been doing it a week and have made £49.00 so only £151.00 to go.
Going to have a big tidy up this morning as well... Best get off and start then hadn't I?
Have a good day everyone0 -
Hiya all,
Welcome to the newbies and sorry to hear about your OH and car Diva.
I hope everyone is doing well and nice things are happening.
I went to the Isle of Man to see my best friend between Friday and Monday night then I was released from hospital this morning after having my tonsils out yesterday.
I'm so pleased they are gone and whilst convalescing, I will be starting to make a quilt (nothing like throwing yourself in at the deep end), an apron with frills for my little cousin, two pairs of tabtop curtains and hopefully knitting a jumper for my uncle. Anyone know of a way (or a link) to knitting a jumper on circular needles? My best friends mum who is quite nifty in this field reckons it can be done and it'll save my uncle ripping this one at the side seams.
Anyhoos, I'm off to see how badly the flat got ruined while I was away and catch up on what's been going on in MSE-land!
Hugs to all.
