Wednesday all done :j meant to post earlier but got distracted by a phone call.
I am so relieved that Home-Job is over again for a few days. I've found it a real struggle this week, not sure whether that's due to the lack of alcohol, or the volume of work, or that Work-Job is getting serious & I'm now starting to think about it when I come home.
It could also be due to the nagging guilt of not having created an entire Spartan Warrior costume for DD in my 'spare time'. It is however, quite amazing what can be achieved with one pillow case, some gladiator sandals, an old belt & friends with arsenals of costume weaponry in their loft.
Some of you may remember my shameful £10 ebay purchase of a ready made costume for the Victorian Week last year :shhh:. I admit it, I was to be found lurking on ebay looking for spartan costumes earlier in the week ... but was too determined not to break my 3 day run of NSDs .
Anyway, last year s Victorian purchase has now been completely justified by being recycled into the Hetty Feather character for book week dressing up day on friday. How 'delighted' we mothers were to discover that this dreaded day had been deliberately & maliciously put on the same day as the class assembly requiring the spartan get up .
Hey ho, DD is quite happy with her 2 outfits, so I might well receive another breakfast in bed on mothers day. I just hope she doesnt moan about doing that, quite as much as I moaned about the outfits
On the other hand; if I moan enough, she might decide to break my alcohol ban for me & bring me a G&T for breakfast rather than warm coffee & floppy toast :rotfl:.
Still no sign of the Carpethole One cash ... cant be bothered to worry about it now though.
I meant to have an early night to prepare for stressy day at work followed by the lovely lie down while my blood gets sucked out through a knitting needle & DD pretends to feel faint so she can go & munch her way through the biscuits for the donors
I fully intend on paying home-job cash into the bank tomorrow & then clearing more debt. On the other hand, I have day off on friday & there is still a sale on in Faith ...
I need my bed,
night night

Hi Lula
Just think you could have another NSD on Friday..so keep away from the shoeshops and any other kind of shop young lady:rotfl:0 -
Hurray for it being thursday & not having any home-job work to do :j I was offered extra for the weekend, but I turned it down. It would probably only equate to about £10 & I'm just not that skint at the moment.
My good intentions of paying cash in to the bank didnt happen; I was half an hour late leaving work so literally had to race to collect DD from school on time, then get to blood donor session for 3.30. Sat about for half an hour before I was seen & then it turns out that my haemoglobin was too low so I couldnt donate after all.
Stopped off at the co op to get bread & bananas, spending £1.70 which means I now have £55.85 left in the grocery budget.
Would love to have a NSD tomorrow but need to go to town to buy pencils & tights for DD & some more veg & milk. I also need to by new kit for DDs friday club but do hope to have a NSWeekend though as we're visiting my grandmother on saturday & DD is at a party on sunday.
Going to eat some chocolate now & catch up on emails _pale_0 -
DD went off to school in her victorian orphan costume & I had a load of washing done by 9
.
I then whizzed into town aiming to buy sparkly tights for DD; couldnt find any but did get her some new pyjamas for £4. I also got a new top & another pair of trousers for work - total £17. Next stop was Boots to get some essentials & another £9.58 goes from my purse. On to Waitrose to get a few groceries & another £22.05 waves goodbye, finally stop at the co op to get something I forgot at Waitrose & another £1.49 is gone.
There's £37.02p & 3 weeks left of the grocery budget, but I feel confident that it is achievable if we're careful. Catapuss doesnt need any more food, we're fully stocked with household stuff & we havent used much of the frozen stuff from last week s big shop so have at least 10 meal foundations in there. I might need to eat some red meat soon as have been feeling very tired ( had to snooze both yesterday & today at about 4.30) & the low iron levels yesterday kind of confirm that.
Still no cash from Carpethole One but I was told up to 10 working days  so I'm sure they wont rush . Bizarrely, I received an e-statement from them today, reminding me of my zero balance & zero payment required . They really dont inspire me with confidence.
I didnt pay any cash into the bank as I used it for todays spending instead of my debit card; couldnt really see the point of paying it in, only to pay it all out again. So will use what's in the bank to make a CC payment instead. Need to work out how much is available as lovefilm & mobile due out next week & also the car insurance . I aim to be paying that in full when it's due for renewal.
I've already been notified that the rent will be going up in April & will have to start paying Council Tax & Water Rates again. Oh boo & hiss.
I know it's only february but I am actually enjoying this living to a budget business. I've already booked a week's holiday for Easter & for the first time in 9 years I will be getting paid for it :j. I havent yet decided whether to continue with home job for that week or not. It will be really nice not to have to do any work at all, but we're not going away anwhere so I probably should .... It seems silly not to & I will still have 5 days of no work at all due to the bank holiday.
Opinions please ...
ps - completely forgot the most exciting news of all : I received 3 x £2 coins today, all gone in my cat ( the china one, not the real one)

Hey Lula
Sounds like a good day.
Re: holidays, I think I would consider taking the time off from both jobs. I've worked two jobs in the past and there is a real danger of not getting enough 'down' time so that you can relax and recover and get properly chilled out.
I've made that mistake in the past and have found myself working lots of days on end.
I think it also depends how you feel at the moment, there is a month before Easter and probably your last break was at Xmas ( you worked over half term right??) which will have been over 3 months ago so you may feel in need of a proper break, regardless of whether you are going away or staying at home???I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills
And feed my interiors addiction0 -
Morning all,
thanks for your thoughts makeup, I do agree that I need proper down time & your comments have made me realise that I've not thought my plans through properly.
My time off work job starts on thursday 1st April & due to the bank holiday on the monday I will definitely have 5 straight days of no work at all :j
DD is at holiday camp for the second week monday 12th through to friday 16th. It would in fact be far more sensible & much less pressure to do home job for three days in the first week (tue, wed & thurs due to bank hol) & then have time off from home job the following week while DD at camp. That way, I dont have to work after I've picked her up which made me feel so guilty during half term
Also, whatever I earn during home job for the first week, will then pay towards DDs camp for the second week
I just need to not let stuff get on top of me & due to May bank holidays I will get plenty of extra days to chill during the next couple of months & then it's just 2 months to get through until I have another 2 weeks holiday from work job, which will coincide with the end of this scary project that is about to begin :j.
More money earned means more debt paid off quicker which means less time until I can quit home job for good
*wanders off to make more hobnobs, empty washing machine, strip beds, load washing machine again, hoover rugs etc etc etc ...*0 -
Hi hun
Foe what it's worth I agree with makeup - take a complete breakSometimes it's hard to walk in a single woman's shoes - that's why we need really special ones!Total debt @ Oct 2008: £29,226.42 Credit Card- £[STRIKE]7493.56[/STRIKE] - £7243.56Weightloss : 0/34lbs0 -
Yep, me too. You need some time off completely. You might be slightly better off, but money doesn't buy everything :A
GwenxThough no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending0 -
I agree as well... proper downtime is important (said with the zeal of a rather recent convert
)

Hello all & thanks for your input.
I will mull it over for few more days before I decide but as we cant afford to go away anywhere I honestly think that 5 consecutive days off will be plenty to chill.
I can then do 3 days of home job - which as it's hols might only be a couple of hours each day - then have another 3 days off then a normal work job week with DD at camp & no home job, followed by another 3 days off before going back to normal routine.
What's that saying about a change being as good as rest or similar.
Moving on, today has been a NSD & I hung all the bed linen out on the lineI'll do the final 2 loads tomorrow & hopefully hang those out as well.
Havent done any other chores but went to visit my grandmother who is well & then on to Dads house to check all ok & water the plants.
I've received the water bill for the next year which has hardly gone up at all& the council tax bill which has gone up by about £30 a month
- that's the joy of earning more money. I'm not convinced that I've had the single occupant discount so will ring & check on monday.
I might also enquire about paying it over 12 months as that would mean paying £15 less each month, quite a difference.
Plans for tomorrow include another NSD, more washing, ironing, cleaning the bathroom, hoovering, washing the floors, filling that charity bag with anything not loved or used, taking DD to a party & hopefully having some quality time with the sofa too.
I'm off to my nice clean bed to finish my book now - it's near the end & a brilliant twist has been revealed :T
night night
