Hi Lula
 to stray payments and  to 'grumpy'!Sometimes it's hard to walk in a single woman's shoes - that's why we need really special ones!Total debt @ Oct 2008: £29,226.42 Credit Card- £[STRIKE]7493.56[/STRIKE] - £7243.56Weightloss : 0/34lbs0 -
I have repaid earlier stupidity with a very busy & hardworking day.
No James for me this morning, we were out of the door at 9.20 on our monthly shopping mission. First stop was Argos to get some new pillows for my Grandmother to take over tomorrow. Second stop was Pets @ Home to stock up on cat food. Have tried many brands of both dry & wet food & also fresh meat & fish, all to no avail & i am rather fed up with giving it all away to my friend who has 3 non fussy cats
.
The fluffball just wants to eat the dry Science food that he had when at the rspca centre but is happy to suck the jelly or the gravy off the Pets @ Home wet food & then go back to eat the chunks later :rotfl:. I pledged to care for him for the rest of his life so I just have to accept that he is not cheap to run. The bags of dry food were on a buy one get one half price offer so I did get a £7.50 discount but it still cost £27.17 in total. Should last a couple of months though.
Next stop was Clarks where the only shoes that DD really liked werent avaialable in her size, but the new ones fit fine & only cost £2 more than the previous ones so not too bad.
Whizzed into Next to buy DD a new top to wear to a party next weekend that £8 but already had the cash in funds so not really a spend as such. also bought myself a new long sleeve plain top for work & that was another £8 but again already budgeted for in Clothes Challenge Cash.
We then had to go to Claires Accessories but DD spent her own pocket money in there so no cost to me. Parking was £1.70 & then we whizzed to my least favourite place to get some fuel. thanks to the £3 clubcard vouchers I had it only cost £36.51. Then did the tyres & had to spend another 20p, not sure when that charge came in but I'm not impressed & am sure the machine sucked the air out again. Must start using the Sainsburys near work.
Finally neared home & stopped off at the library to get more books & popped into the co op to buy pizza ( buy 2 & save £1.50, salad & chunky chips for supper tonight, also some weetabix & I'm afraid wotsits were half price so I got bag of those too :shhh:. Total spend in there was £9.26. Too exhausted to make lunch & feet a bit sore after tottering around in new boots for 3 hoursso bought a couple of sausage rolls for lunch £2.20 .
The rest of the day has been taken up with restoring a youthful colour to my hair, doing the final load of washing, cleaning the bathroom, hoovering the rugs & washing the floors.
Tomorrows plans are : ironing first thing, followed by some cooking & baking & then out visiting in the afternoon & not paying Capital One
DD about to have an early bath then we're going to eat our pizza & watch Stardust.
I'm now including the cat's food in the grocery & household budget but not all of what I have bought so far is grocery or household so need to spend some time with the receipts & add up the total spent so far.
I was full of intentions to cut the budget this month, but will work out how many days left & how much spent already before I do that
bye for now

You're doing well Lula - sorry I haven't ventured here for an age though.
I signed up for the RHS Grow your Own challenge so I am waiting for some stuff to be sent to me (free seeds and recipes) and I have pledged to grow salad leaves, strawberries (I shall try them I have seeds) and tomatoes - I wonder if I will be able to grow everything in the windowbox. Need to replace the soil for new in the windowboxes too - shall do that when I come back week commencing 15 March:D
Am getting really fat so when I get my glasses back from the hospital I will be able to drive again and then will be able to drive to the ladies' only bootcamp which is what I need to shift the additional 3.5 stone put on since 2007:eek::mad: Must start eating properly too as my whole eating has gone to pot.
Guess I must go back to my packing (I am not heading off yet but don't want to forget anything).0 -
Hello Horace:D,
good to hear from you & no apolgy necessary, I keep up with all your 'doings' on Wols thread & really admire all that you achieve.
I hope you have a fabulous holiday & get some business while you're there too. Great news on the growing free food too, I havent eaten anything green for ages ( other than peas & leeks) & had half abag of salad tonight which was great, made me feel all summery again
Welll my lovelies, I watched the film Stardust & loved it. Kept me out of mischief for while & DD had the pc all to herself for a couple of hours.
I'm also nearing the end of the bottle of sloe ginI've really enjoyed it & may well consider making some myself. Not a bad thing that it's nearly all gone as I have to confess that I havent managed to lose any weight this month, at all
. I intend to lose at least 5lbs in March so the alcohol has to go. No point eating well all day & then sinking 2 G&Ts or a couple of glasses of wine 3 times a week.
I am not going to make any bold statements about cooking from scratch or batch cooking; the freezer isnt big enough, I am too tired after work & I have enough to do at week ends with the cleaning, shopping, washing & ironing, visiting relatives & soon the gardening & allotmenteering too _pale_
We are making our own cakes & biscuits & I am thinking about what we buy & how to use it without wasting any. I've got a vague idea of meal plans for the week ahead & that will do.
I will keep the groceries & household budget at £150 for March - there are nearly 5 weeks  & have already spent £88.89p so just £61.11 left ...0 -
I am a long tiime lurker on your thread but just had to post to say how yummy Charlie Cox is in Stardust.
Am off to the Faith website now to see what all the fuss is about those boots. :cool:0 -
Hi Lula, I was going to ask what Stardust was like, DD has it on DVD and I thought if it was any good I wouldn't mind watchin it. Saturday or Sunday night is going to be DVD night for us from now on. I'm not really a film person but DD loves them so thought I'd give it a go. Although I refuse to watch any Star Wars!!
Don't blame you about the cooking. I don't have the room for batch cooking either but I am going to cook from scratch more just because I don't do alot to start with. A tip my sister picked up and has used is any veg that's starting to go off, peel and chop it and stick it in the freezer. When I went and made her tea the other week I only had to do the meat and potatoes, all the veg was already prepared for me to just stick it in the steamer
Good luck with your 5lb weightloss challenge. I know you've not lost any in Feb but at least you've not put your anything back on :j
Hope you have a nice day :AInitial Debt July 2020 - £6,772.80

Hi lizzie dripping & welcome to you new Quest Guest
..
no need to go all the way to Faith, I can bring it to you *proudly shows off new copy & pasting skills* :

I have to say they look pretty fab in the tan colour too :heartpuls
I wasnt allowed them though, so had to make do with a similar pair I found in TK Maxx - longer in the leg so just over the knee ( not a bad thing when we're talking about my knees ) & with a slimmer heel & the best bit is, only £20 :T
Anyway, I really loved Stardust, I do like those kind of magical, fairytale with a bit of adventure & action too type of films& I would definitely say "move over James Martin & make room for Charlie Cox" :rotfl:.
I spent a bit of time doing some ironing this morning - I do like to have a full set of clean, freshly ironed clothes to choose from ... but for now will have to make do with just the ones that fit.
I also made a batch of hobnobs & some more rock cakes. Did a bit of quality control tasting but from tomorrow will only have one a day. Really their purpose is to take to my grandmothers & also for DDs lunchbox - stops me from spending money on gak at the shop.
Thanks for the veg tip Bowksi :Awill remember that - I also braved the garden to empty the composting scraps, not pretty out there.
Must go make myself look a bit respectable - trackie pants off & make up on - then will have my last glass of alcohol for a month tonight .
Bye for now
