    Aaaaaaaaaahhh, it's saturday :D

Nice lie in this morning, heard cat miaow then heard DD pandering to it's needs so rolled over & went back to sleep for another hour & a half :)

Horace, I sympathise with your being terrorized by felines. My parents had 2 cats that completely & utterly ruled the house, they were allowed to roam everywhere & humans had to take whatever seating was available . One of them used to strategically postiiont itself so that it could swipe at anyone edging nervously past. All 4 granddaughters bear scars, I ran the gauntlet of mother's wrath by telling the cat that if it chose to bite me, then I wouldnt hesitate to bite it back :p. I'm sure it understood as just used to give me filthy looks instead :rotfl:.

I have used my time wisely today, washed bed linen & hung it all out on the line, hoovered the floors, cleaned the bathroom, relocated more junk to the shed.

Also had to go back to pet place to exchange grooming kit for double edged scary looking one. It works wonders though & cat tolerated it, with occasional swiping with its impressively fluffy tail. Also bought a carton of cat milk to try out so spent 91p in total. Then popped into Hobbycraft to get a sheet of felt to stick to the legs of chairs, table & sofa so that it doesnt mark the (still) gleaming white floor when we move them. It was buy 2 get one free so Dd got a couple of sheets with cat prints on them & will probably make a pillow for cat or something similar, total of £ 1.59 spent in there.

Fancied a curry tonight so popped into co op on the way back to buy sauce, naan bread & rice & also got more frubes for school, part baked baguettes for easy meal, nuts to accompany wine & bananas. total spend was £10.59 so now have £16 left in grocery budget until friday.

I also managed to acquire another 2 x £2 coins today & have decided to 'take' the amount from treats budget otherwise I'll just end up with nothing left of shopping budget & start borrowing from funds. Again :o.

Pink Elephant is slipping down a treat tonight with some very fattening nuts but we're off to the allotment tomorrow so will work doubly hard to compensate. Also have more washing to do so will have to run up & down steps to the garden too

No wonder I have never come across your diary - you are on the main DFW board. Have duly caught right up to date, and had a good giggle in the process! Hope feline essentials are not throwing out your Pink Elephant budget ... :p

Too right it doesnt, perish the thought :eek::eek:. I'd rather not eat.

Hello & welcome new Quest Guest Fire Fox :hello:

I have been very well behaved today :D did aload of washing & hung it out on the line, then went to the allotment to do some more weeding & get more free food. We grazed on strawberries, peas & raspberries & brought home more potatoes, carrots & leeks & a small onion. Just enough to make me a lovely leek & potato soup. It's really easy; chop onions & leeks & soften in butter, then add 1 pint of water with stock cube in & add in chopped potatoes, season & simmer until all soft then whizz it with hand blender until nice & thick. Easy peasy. I add a splosh of milk when I eat it but as I saved half for a meal during the week I fridged it without & will add milk before reheating. We also made hobnobs :shhh: guess that means I failed Bowskis challenge :o .

Cat is fine & totally at home now, & as he's obviously totally gets the tray procedure I'm going to stop shutting him in the kitchen as in the morning the worktops are just covered in fur so I have to wipe everything down before even making tea ... getting bored with that now . I always clean them in the eveing so appearing rather OCD.

It's been a NSD all day so I just need one more to cmplete my target. Fuel is very low but I reckon I have enough to get to work on Tuesday & then can fill up before work on Thursday which is the 1st.

Have to take DD to open evening at secondary school on tuesday evening but it's only a mile away so we can walk. If she does go there she'll be walking daily anyway so might as well learn the way early ;).

I've made a £ 30 payment to CC1 tonight so have completed the necessary for the month & that balance is now £ 2,672.54 & the total outstanding debt is £ 5,793.

Tomorrow I need to pay in those £2 coins but dont think I need to spend any money so will try to make it a NSD.

    Off to update my sig

    bye for now . . .

  • Wow Lula Congratulations on the new job :T:j:T:j That's fantastic news! Good Luck with it !!

Also the cat sounds very well behaved and a pleasure to have around, I'd be tempted myself if I liked them.

    Morning all,

buzzing with energy & optimsim today, or it could be the coffee I just had. Not ground stuff this week, co op had fairtrade instant on half price deal so had to have that this as I'm very virtuous :rotfl:( actually means more Pink Elephants but, whatever :p) it still tastes way better than anything Tatco has for the same price.

I was meant to be having a NSD today but was completely & utterly foiled by the lack of bread in the house. I have been reading about all the different types of homemade stuff over on old style & then DD & I watched Countryfile & she asked if we could make our own. I agreed that we should but as I havent done it for about 15 years then we need to buy all the ingredients. Cant be doing with a breadmaker, what's the point - we have hands & an oven .

Anyway, had to pay £2 coins into the bank & post a brochure so thought I might as well get some bread ( pre made this time) while I was out. Cost of postage - 90p, cost of trip to co op - £ 5.63, that included lemons, milk, bread, more half price buttery stuff, apple juice & more peppermint tea.

I now have just £ 5.97 left in the grocery budget ... but reckon I can easily make it to friday. Honestly cant think of anything else we might need ...

Still need to get another NSD in or I'll fail

    Hi Shoe Gal,

sorry to hear you' re a bit depleted, could it be woman / moontime type thing ? Not sure why I'm buzzy, probably just the thought of something new to do. Just in time as well, today I had half the usual amount for a monday, so couldnt possible manage if work keeps dropping off. Boss who was 'really ill' a few weeks ago has just had another holiday but cant get herself to the bank to pay co workers wages or provide a float to keep the business & company vehicles running . My co worker is more patient than I.

Finance news; 'tis a good thing today was not a NSD as when we went to the library I had to pay a 64p fine for late returns - apparently dropping them in the returned boooks hole in the wall doesnt count at 7pm :o.

I did however get a fab cookery type book . This is the woman who bought 'The Frugal Cook' a few months ago, read it & then put it on top of the pile of other unused cooking books. Anyway, this is by Sophie Dahl & is called Miss Dahls voluptuous delights. It's a beautiful book & aside from the recipes she has written a lot of accompanying notes & anecdotes which I have just finished reading. For those of us who love our food & struggle to maintain a healthy weight I recommend it. It's very casual & sensible & not at all preachy or bossy.

I should probably get an early night but am too buzzy still, have spent £23 in M & S on clothes for DD & of course it was through Quidco, but as I had to pay £3 delivery & there's a large store 3 miles away I probably wont do it again, as even with cashback I'm still £2 down  It has already tracked though so that's good news.

    Off for wander now

    xx

If your kitty kat climbs onto the work surfaces and you see him do it, put him on the ground immediately..he will soon get the message that he has to stay on the floor.

I wandered into Tatco myself today - I got some jacket spuds (or they will be when I have baked them), some red grapes, a small bag of salad and some strawbs, fresh cream and a cottage pie and then I hit the whoopsie shelf with a vengence:rotfl: I came home with some southern fried chicken pieces, some Jus Rol shortcrust pastry, some fresh raspberries, some of tatco's finest peas and bean mix with mint and chive butter, a carton of strawberry smoothie and some loaded potato skins which are now residing in the freezer - the raspberries have been troffed already:rolleyes:

Yesterday was the poxy wedding fair..it was rubbish and full of chavs although i did keep helping the lady next to me by promoting her gorgeous cake - she is an accountant but has a 14 month old daughter so stays home and makes cakes. I also had a chat with the registrars on the stand next to me and have been invited to view most of the register officers in worcestershire, plus they tipped me off about some barns in Stoke Prior which have just been awarded a wedding licence. Dumbo here, found herself agreeing to attend a breakfast meeting on Friday - at 7am (its an unearthly hour and I am still sleeping then:rolleyes:). Tomorrow I am off to the spa and I fancy some time off and I am trying to sort my back out which aches constantly - sitting in the heated plunge pool with the jets on will work wonders:cool: In the afternoon I may just decide to join the long queue to see the anglo saxon gold hoard at the Birmingham Museum - it went on display on Friday and since then 10500 people have been to see it.

Wednesday I have wangled a free lunch at a venue that I am viewing.

S'pose I had better think about having a coffee before bed time and take more ibruprofen.
