Toilet Roll Quality....?

Is it just me, or has the quality of toilet roll suddenly gone down the pan? (Sorry, coudn't resist that! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:)
I normally buy toilet roll when it's on offer - used to be able to get 2 x 9 for £5, but haven't seen anything like that for a while now as the price creeps up.
More often than not, I used to buy Charmin, but lately, the better offers have been on Andrex. Well, cute puppies might sell loo roll, but I'm not impressed with the quality and neither is my DH. It's much thinner than Charmin, so even though there are more sheets on a roll, I end up having to use more to do the same job - IYSWIM?!
Anyone else noticed a difference lately?

Also with Andrex the actual brown tube holding it together is a lot wider, so I think it runs out quicker. I've started buying sainsburys own aloe vera stuff, cheaper than andrex and much better quality.Lynzie Lou :dance:0

I buy from Home Bargains, used to get the 18 for £2.99 but it was awful.
I now buy the NICKY packs at 4 for 99p - they are quilted too and pretty good quality for the price (and for what you do with them) lolmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
We have started buying Regina at Sainsburys and find it far better than most other brands, it is quilted and cheaper than Sainsburys own brand.
Unfortunately living down South we don't have Home Bargains et al which is most annoying!!0 -
Manda - I live in the Hebrides and only have Tesco and the Co-op to shop from. Everything else is a 3 hour ferry trip and at least 1 hour drive to get to Inverness

Thanks to everyone for the useful pointers though for my next trip away!0 -
Charmin loo roll is nowhere near as thick as it used to be. When it came out it was super quilted and two sheets were more than enough, now it's just the same as the rest. (and I do know this as I found a roll of charmin in the loft in a camping box (don't ask) a couple of weeks ago and it was more like kitchen roll compared to what they sell now.
I buy triple velvet now - Savers have 9+3 free for £3.59 at the mo!
It's only a game

Andrex is very poor now - I usually buy the Kleenex Velvert when it's on special at Costco - had to buy a small pack recently in Tesco though and chose Andrex Aloe - absolutely pathetic - and priceyNO FARMS = NO FOOD0

I always stock up on toilet rolls when on offer and my limit is £1 per four-pack or equivalent.
Bought 10 packs at Sainsburys a few weeks ago when on offer and got some Charmin one's at Lidl the other day (£5.99 for 24).
