I am sure you can clear that debt really quickly, I have a lot more than that and am aiming to clear it in 2 years, I have just started a diary myself, I find it helps to write it down rather than keep it all locked in my head.

OK - here is my v simple plan - cos if I make it too complicated, I may cry...;)

Here's what I need to get rid of:

    M&S visa - £350
MBNA visa - £300 (but £180 is money I am owed - and yes this person is good for it;)) so really £120
    Capital One £200
Bank of Mum £700 (and bless her she keeps telling me not to pay it back - she lent me £1K to buy a car with when I started working full time)

Here's what I need to save:

    £6000 per year course fees
so - if I did 3 years £18000 -- lets just concentrate on one year...

So by next September - bare minimum is pay off debts and save £6000. You know - I ought to be able to do that...
Onward and upward - with the odd step to the side

    November GC £255/£300

    Hey Laura

DO you know what - if we grit our teeth and stop spending on bits here and there, we could pay all the credit cards off with next payday. Thats the thing - this is why I need to do this diary. I've been piddling about when really I should just do it.

So here's the challenge for the month:

Pay £350 to M& S and clear it
Pay £120 to MBNA and clear my bit
Pay £200 to Capital One and clear it

So £670 is what I need to pay this month.

Over the next 2 months I can pay mum back (Oct/Nov) and pay for what I brought in the Next Sale (I rocked that sale! - although obviously in my DFW way it was a VERY NAUGHTY thing to do!)

Dec - Christmas (ooh - and gas/electric bill)

    Jan - get saving

:rotfl:Looks so simple on paper - but lets give it a go eh??:rotfl:

ooh - to those of you who asked what I'm hoping to study....when/if I'm accepted I will tell you.:silenced: Its a bit off the wall in some ways - but totally right for me...

Tomorrow am going to book a place on the open day - and then start my application after that...:jvery excited though - even though the sensible bit of me thinks - I must be nuts!:rotfl:

Hope your studying works out for you, that was my plan to, I was going to do a part time nursing course, but they cancelled it due to lack of funding for the course.

  • Rupe I'm so intrigued!! Hope it all goes well at the open day, a lot of people are going "back to school" this year due to job losses so the course should be busy (whatever it is)

It's odd to think that you'll be DEBT FREE (sorry it deserved capitals) in one month's time!! Awesome work hun :D

I too am aiming for Xmas on my debt now - totally doable if I grit my teeth and knuckle down. I also have decided I'm only buying five presents. I just have to choose who to give them to :D
    End of 2010 I was £8,007.66 in debt :(
    Today's total: £7,297.06 :o

    OK dilemma city already.

Had a little chat with my boss today - who informs me that she wants to know if my plans are to stay in this job - basically because the words 'you will be the next manager' are being bandied about. If I stay - I will be managing the place - potentially in the not too distant future.

Hmm - uni on the one hand (and skintness) or this.

    AM feeling all confused now.

(ANd totally wrecked my NSD plan - went to visit a friend in hospital and paid parking, brought food and flowers) oops
