upgrade to sky+

Have been with sky now for over 15 years and still have my original box. Am now looking to move to sky+. I only have the entertainements package, have never seen the need for movies and dont watch sport.
I rang up and was quoted £449 for the box and £60 installation unless i took out multiroom at an additinal £9 a month and then the price would drop. I dont want multi room.
A new sky customer would only pay £79 for the box and installation on the same package as me which to be honest is annoying to say the least.

Has anyone managed to upgrade boxes without paying through the nose for being a loyal and current customer?

Buy a new or used Sky+ Digibox from a reputable source.
Change the LNB on your dish to a quad-output type.
Connect two cables from the LNB to your Sky+ Digibox.
Phone Sky and get them to activate your card AND your Sky-plus recording facility.
All of this should come to less than £100.

just rang cancellation dept this evening and told them i was going to cancel for a year so i could get new customer deals as i had been quoted £500 for a sky plus box. She was gobsmacked at the price to say the least. I said i didnt really want to pay anything for the box as i had been with them for 15 years + . She came back to me and offered me a brand new sky+ box for £29 with no installation cost.

Fantastic, they are coming to install it next friday. Just goes to show what happens when you threaten to cancel.:T:T

what's the cancellation department number?
i'm paying £28.50 for standard sky box, 2 tv package and midi broadband

i want to get something like the above £29 for sky+ box and change my package to the one i see online £18.50 for tv, broadband etc.

how much do you pay for your sky and what is entertainment package?

are they still doing introduce a friend schemes just now? the last one i saw ( a while back ) would mean you got free + and M&S vouchers for both of you

hi dont bother asking for prices from sky if you have been with them a few years go straight to cancellations you'll be amazed at wat they will do to keep you tuesday and wednesday are the best days for offers i rang cancellations to cancel as i wanted sky hd box i have sky plus told them i wasnt prepared to pay £79.99 new customers get all the deals without flinching very nice scotsman offered skyhd box for £29.99 all in fitted with 12month guarantee its being fitted monday morning 7 sept . this is not a one off i did same thing with sky plus box got it free also after 12 months if it breaks down sky want £65.00 to send engineer out cancel i say ok we'll do it free this time lol they dont wanna lose customers they will barter dont forget tue or wed hope this helps some of you out .

why is it best for tuesday or wednesday to phone them? if it is might wait until next week LOL

any day is gud to ring.. but u may actually have to cancel to a month but i'll b worth it.. they ring u back all the time asking you to come back wit free boxes and half price offers..

tuesday and wednesday best because they only have a certain number of deals to give away monday there not in a rush thursday friday most are gone cancelation number not sure just ring normal sky number and tell them you want to cancel theyt put you throught but they say its cancelations its not its retentions its there job to keep you at sky hope this helps
