Do you have a new lodger coming in?

  • Very quick update - I'm working at eight and have to leave in 20 minutes, still have to eat, pack lunch and make up flasks!

    The Good

    • I still have a job!! The selection process is finished and I got my first choice :j Still same salary etc, but I'm very happy about that :D
    • Went out with KissJen last night and had such a good time gassing we didn't go to a movie in the end :rotfl:
    The Bad

    • Miscommunication with lodger means that I thought he was moving out next week but still paying me rent yesterday. He thought differently but will pay me for one week. Urgh. Need to check bank statements to make sure he's not doing me out of £300+
    • I got the job over my best friend at work. Tippytoeing around that one just now, not pleasant.
Gotta dash, hope all are well.

    Xx
Hiya F_F, great news on the new job, hope your friend is ok about it and its not too awkward! at the lodger, hope you get it sorted out! Have you got a new lodger lined up?

Have to say I'm very impressed at how you can do all this and still leave the house on time in the morning!

Holy carp, so many comments!! Sometimes I forget it's more than the usual crowd who reads this!

Thanks to every one of you (And the lurkers, I know you're out there...) for your congratulations, it really means a lot!

    Lodger issues:

I have gotten £100 from him as the last weeks rent, which is fine. It looks like he was paying in advance, so he's not due me anything much. £100 is better than nothing. I have paid off my Halifax credit card today (Well, the new trainers are still to be paid, but I have a plan....) and shall do a money update shortly.

Having had a lovely night with KissJen last night I'm less scared of having no money this month than I was. Woo to you lady for cheering me up, I had a lovely time :D

Right, off to log into online banking and let y'all know how I'm doing money-wise!

    I feel so loved...thank you.

You have done so brilliantly marvelously well that a slight hiccup this month will be tossed aside.

    Pah you say...
I sneer in the face of semi skintiness,
I laugh in the face of the lack of lucre,
I'm alarmed at the absence of additional alliteration :rotfl:

I've signed up for Edinburgh meet...could be the end of your lodger issue...how many MSE'ers could you jam in on a very reasonable B&B rate?

    Money.....

Spends Account - £54 I will have to pay £20 to Mr Fresian from this for his credit card and overdraft interest. Can't wait to get his student loan into my sweaty little paws....

PAD Account - £26.50 Of this £20 was from my mum as a Well Done for the job. I'm going to PAD it though. That makes me happier than buying random carp.

Groceries Account - £205.51 Going to Costco/Tesco this weekend to make sure I have food for the month and to stock up on nice teabags at Costco (320 Twinings everyday for £4ish and BOGOF with voucher!) I have enough food/cat litter for the cats for the month which should keep costs down.

Entertainment Account - £40.96 I don't have many nights out planned and can take money from this if it all goes t*ts up.

    Purse - £30.67

There are 29 days until payday

I have sent money to pay all of my bills, so really it's my spends and PADs that will suffer. I have the following still to think about:

    £30ish on Halifax credit card
£55 on Barclaycard (Last of the laptop) I did make a payment to that yesterday before I knew I had no money :rotfl:

My bills are covered in my Alliance and Leicester account and I think I have even sent over more money than was required as I'm sure my Scottish Power bill is going down this month.

I have £83.25 in my instant-access emergencies account but would like to not touch this as it's going to be for Christmas hopefully. Ideally I will magic money out of thin air and get it up to £100 by next payday...

    So, I need a plan:

    1. Speak to Mr Fresian and get him to help me with some decluttering.

    2. Take some decluttered DVDs (Pretty much all of the CDs went in the First Great Decluttering) and punt them to Music Magpie for quick sale

    3. Sort out items for Ebay - does anyone know if there is a free listing day due? Photograph and describe them over the weekend and put them into Turbolister so they're ending at a good time. Again, recommendations about the best time for listing would be great.

    4. Speak to Best Friend and see if she would be willing to assist with a car boot extravaganza for the rest of the keech.

So, although it was initially the Worst Thing Ever, I have a plan and I do like a plan. :D This is not the end of the world but it's doable and all shall be well.

    Hurrah.
  • fanastic news about the job!
& your money seems pretty well sorted to me

don't forget to go to music magpie through quidco - I kicked myself over that one!!
