I have death benefit of 4x current salary which would repay mortgage and leave Mr Fresian a lump sum to ease his grief (And he calls me morbid!)

I pay extra for Critical Illness through work but it's about £3 per month for me and pays more than I would need to repay mortgage. I get 6/8 months full pay for illness.

I'm thinking I don't need the mortgage cover but I'm scared to cancel :rotfl:

If you die and to help Mr F plan his getting-over-it-all-world-cruise effectively you'd get all the life cover, so mortgage paid off plus 4xsalary if you have the two schemes. Critical illness usually covers loss of income so if your work pays for you to be off then it may not pay out and it often has a time limit on how long it will pay for. They are often very prescriptive on the illnesses as well, you have to have exactly what it says on the tin, so Scandanavian Pine Ronsealitis presumably.

You seem to know a lot more than I do :o

I think I know what we might be talking about during our starters on Wednesday :rotfl:

On the brightside you insurance quotes are very very low. I'm suffering my way through lots of ridiculous questions including "does anyone smoke" to which the answer is yes although not in the house, ever, and definately never in bed but apparently the wheres and hows are irrelevant. Ticking yes adds £800 a year to the policy with several of the larger insurers and £400 to others. Looks like I'll be going with someone who hasn't added that question yet. Really don't want to fork out a grand for buildings and contents insurance each year. Still I have another 24 hours before Tesco current offer ends to see if I can find anything lower than its current £185. I'm biting the bullet and paying in full though. I refuse to hand over a wodge more than I need for paying throughout the year.

Have to say I'm most impressed with your meal planning. It wouldn't happen here. Friday I went to the Farmers Market, bunged everything in the freezer apart from an enormous joint. OH arrives home and announces he doesn't fancy a roast. Pork stuffed in freezer, venison retrieved. Conversation at the dinner table ended with OH saying I'll have the leftover venison for dinner tomorrow. Fab. Then he got in from work very late having eaten there and yesterday DD1 made pizza. Venison is still in the fridge.
Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.50

Mr Fresian is very good on this front. I used to be a very bad cook (Fish fingers etc being my idea of cooking) so he's taking this aspect of the MSE lifestyle very well. Value muesli not so well :D

If I show him a meal plan and tell him what he'll be eating for a week he's just so grateful he's not cooking he accepts it :rotfl:

On the other hand, he has been amazing through all my work turmoils - one day last week he gutted the kitchen, hoovered the house (and the cat-hair matted revolting stairs) and made me mince and tatties for dinner. He then duly basked in (well-deserved) praise for the rest of the night. It did make me laugh when he left for colleage the next morning shouting "Look at my clean stairs" over his shoulder as he left though :D

Didn't go to work today in the end.

Got up (at five) had a shower and then felt shattered. Spent most of the morning huddled in my jammies watching iPlayer. Myself and Mr Fresian (also felled with the lurgy) walked to the shop to get bread, milk and eggs earlier - a twenty minute round trip. It broke me and I ended up having a nap :rotfl: My second one of the day as well...I'm a rubbish patient.

I have taken my last £40 out of the bank until payday. I still have money in the PAD/Groceries/Entertainment accounts but am only wanting to spend a little bit of that. I would really love to have £100 left to PAD on Tuesday next week but I'm not sure if I will make it. I'm crossing all my fingers and toes :D

Totals for my challenge now stand thus:

    Essential Bills £133.95
    Bills to Cut Back
    £55.74
    Groceries £41.41
    Toiletries £21.69
    Other Sh*te
    £113.26
    Total Spend £366.05
    Remaining Budget
    £2,633.95

Most of the bills I'm going to be including haven't come off yet. The "Other" category is much more than I would like but this does include dress alterations and my mother's birthday present, so it's not too bad really. It's a looooong time until the 1st of January though....

Urgh, 109 days according to Google. This works out at over £24 per day which sounds huge, but my electricity bill for example is 5 days budget. I think I'm going to have to become very creative!!

Hope you start feeling better soon.

No prob to postpone Wed if that's easier for you. We can catch a movie and get some grub when you're back to your mootastic self. Just let me know, there's nothing worse than having to go out when you want your duvet.

Hell no! Nothing is more likely to get this crazy challengee off her sickbed than free dinner followed by a free movie :rotfl:

In all seriousness, I'm going to see how I feel tomorrow. If I've had a full night's sleep then chances are I'm going to work and if I'm well enough to go to work I'm well enough to scoff pizza two days hence.

How are you feeling about your Aberdeen adventures?

Off work again. Feel poo and know I'm a bad patient :o

Mr Fresian is also off college today as he's really ill with it too. I'm coughing like a mo-fo anyway, but he's still a heavy smoker (whereas I quit a year ago :A) so he's suffering more.

I really wanted to get things done today but I'm so flipping tired. Grr...
