Casu Marzu is made in Sardinia, although I've no doubt there are local variants all over Europe. One would need to go into the mountains and ingratiate oneself with the locals to even stand a chance of getting some.

It's not so much the thought of eating maggots that puts me off, more the fact that if you don't chew properly, the larvae can make it through your stomach to your intestine and attach themselves to your gut and make you very ill. As Wikipedia puts it:

"The larvae have powerful mouthhooks which can lacerate stomach linings or intestinal walls as the maggots attempt to bore through internal organs."

    Ouch!
