    Afternoon all!!!

Had a lovely time at Hampstead - didnt make it to Highgate but will go next time as the bus leaves from outside my house all the way there (£1 each way)

We also collected a bet my American friends made (they dont have betting there) and used the £30 for lunch and drinks at a lovely pub!!

Spud - you could try a an ASUS EEE if she just wants a cheap laptop - mine was £175 including delivery and they come in funky colours, plus the screen is small so she cant use it all night for chatting ;)

My childhood was full of laughs and love, lots of picnics of marmite sarnies in the park and at the beach and a bottle of orange squash. I sometimes wonder if my kids will grow up with such fond memories...I hope so.

Of course there was the bit of me that resented that everyone else seemed to have ice-skating lessons, piano lessons or a pony (not that I'd have known one end of a pony from the other). But it didn't do me any harm.

We were talking about birthdays the other day and DD1 said she was going to ask for money this year from family, I asked what she wanted it for, she replied "half I'll save towards my uni fund, the other half I'll use to treat us all to a take away" :D

No we didnt have much either, but there wasnt as much to have then as there is now.....does that make sense

There was more than enough to fill a house several times over. As mobile phones have risen in importance, things like tonka toys (made out of 100% genuine non-placcy steel) have fallen.

Now it's xbox 360 - then it was Atari 2600 - plus ca change, le plus le meme chose...

OK - have booked the ferry to Ireland at £211. This does include a clubclass seat each way for me (Evie can sit on my knee) - with complimentary teas/coffees and snacks.

Looked at flying and it would have cost £30 for UK airport parking (or £45 for a return taxi) £155 for the flights, 80 Euros for train fares from Dublin and then 20 Euros on taxi from from train to sister's house and then I'd be dependant on my sister for driving me around and about:eek:

I figured for my sanity and stress levels it would be better to go by ferry and be able to drive myself around.

Ah atari... many a happy hour I spent fighting with my brother and sister over who's turn it was and whether we'd play space invaders or pacman:o

We should set up an MSE house swapping list where we state all amenities, number of rooms, pets (no exotics ) etc and only swap with other MSEers! :T

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

I'm sooooo mad  just need to have a little rant.

Rang XOH earlier to talk to him about the house. All was fine, he said 'do you want me to come and see the kids tonight?' (would have been nicer if he'd said 'I'd like to see the kids tonight', as he hasn't seen them for over a week with holidays etc...but I let that go.)

Have told the kids he is coming, then have just rung him now to ask what time, because I need to nip out, and he is in the pub, sounding quite drunk. I asked him not to turn up drunk to see them, so he has decided, rather than to stop drinking, to just not bother seeing them tonight.

Then to add insult to injury, he said, very unconvincingly, 'Aww, but I really wanted to see them too....' (just not enough to forego another few pints).

Someone remind me why I wasted 12 years with this man?????
