    Mmmmmm Instant Whip :)
  • Oh dear. I am still as common as muck then. We regularly have egg and chips. And the chips are made in the fryer. A nice cheap easy option especially for the veggies in the family. The only potatoes ds eats are chips. And they have to be home made.

I've not had it for years, but the way my mum did it was to cook the eggs in the chip pan after the chips were done.mmmmmmmmmmmmm
  • And who remembers the famous 'chips and egg' scene in Shirley Valentine?:rotfl:

now has to be egg and chips here too after far too long. I want them that bad that as I'll be out at tea time I'm having them for dinner :o

I want it now but I have to wait for the supermarket to bring me oven chips, bread and butter before I can proceed :( I really hope they arrive closer to 12pm than 1

Ooh you can't beat egg and chips! It's my all time favourite meal, closely followed by beans on toast! Sophistication is my middle name!

I'm surprised about people not having eaten it though, or having experienced a chip butty - guess all my friends were common as muck as well, and still are lol! x

  • We love egg and chips! Sometimes we par-boil some cut up spuds and then saute in butter with egg and beans.....yummy! Of course you have to have the bread and butter slices alongside.

I think over the past 20 years food has become very complicated and luckily chefs, cooks etc are now going back to basics!

I had egg & chips once a week when growing up, the others had them too but with a very small piece of steak or a chop. I still adore this but mine are slightly healthier now.Still eat them at 5.30 though.
The Shirley Valentine thing really happened to us but because the dog was treat like a princess no one batted an eyelid and just tucked in to the egg & chips.
