1,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning all:wave:

It looks like I'm going to be spending most of the day in the kitchen. My meal plans have had to be changed. I'd planned a lamb stew for tonight with leftovers to freeze for another day. I've got a chicken in the fridge which I was going to roast tomorrow. However OH wants to 'do something' tomorrow afternoon-probably a walk in the Forest of Dean. I won't have time to roast a chicken (it's a biggun) when we get back.

So, roast chicken it is today, but I'm also going to make the lamb stew for tomorrow today:rolleyes: Plus a treacle tart for pudding for both meals. And lunch for today -no idea about that- scrambled egg/beans on toast?

I'd really better get on with my stew.

    Yeah sure, here it is:

    2 tbsp oil
    1 tsp minced garlic
1 kg zucchini (or courgettes :D), roughly chopped
    salt
    3 cups chicken stock
    1/4 cup cream
    1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

Heat oil, add garlic, zucchini & salt to taste.
Cook for a few minutes & add stock & bring to boil.
Simmer for 15 mins or until zucchini is tender.
Allow to cool slightly & blend until smooth.
Stir in parmesan cheese & cream.
( I didn't have cream but I did have some leftover sour cream, so put that in instead)
    It was nice.

Just watched David Suchet in that family tree show. Interesting. Jerry Springer was on last week. Had no idea he hailed from the UK.
NPM - Hope it goes well & try not to worry too much.
Haribo - How can you tell if the mouse died of fright? :D
    Ruby- A happy chicken??

Enjoy the rest of your day. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    Hello everyone!

Well we're back from Somerset, had a fantastic week, the cottage was gorgeous and the weather wasn't too bad! Lots of frugal activities like walking and cycling, and brought back lots of goodies from the local farm shops.

Down to earth with a bump this morning with a trip to the supermarket, which I normally do on my own but had to do with husband and three kids in tow today, not sure which of them is worst for trying to sneak extras into the trolley!

Chicken is roasting in the oven, and I am trying to sort through the backlog of holiday washing. Unfortunately the cleaning fairies haven't visited while we were away so there is a lot of housework to be done. At least the kids go back to school on Wednesday so they won't make so much mess in the house then.

Hope you all have a good day x

Memory even worse today, can't remember who has said what! Will try MSD tactic once I'm back from hols.

Done tesco and got some last minute bits for hols. Taken foster cat to a different foster carer for the week whilst we're away. Other 2 are having someone come in to feed them, but foster cat has so much wrong with her I couldn't leave her like that.

Anyway, must fly, got a whole list of things to do that I haven't started yet!

    Afternoon all

Cold here, heat is on....we are off in a bit to DS3 and DDIL2 for lunch, so feeling as if I have nothing to do to-day.

Mouse is acting up...never sure where I am going so this will be a quick post.

Hugs to all in need or want, have a good bank holiday to-morrow...we have our August one on first Monday so none now until last Monday in October.

  • Good afternoon everyone. From the bright sun earlier it's now very dull and feels like the temp has dropped quite a bit.

DH is working today so I've just been doing a bit of this and that as the mood strikes. I mowed the front and back garden earlier. I need to spend about an hour out there weeding the borders however I don't see that happening today. Wash is on the airers and I have a few dishes to wash up. Not much left to do chore wise today. I'm thankful for that blessing today. :)

Dinner this evening will be either sausages, mash and gravy or corned beef hash with veg. I'm trying to use up what I have in the freezer and cupboard. No sense in spending unless I need to. I'll probably go later this week sometime and get a few things we do need.

The apple tree out front keeps dropping damaged apples with a spot here and there. I gathered some last week and made applesauce. They're not quite ripe enough so it's a bit tart. I don't care for applesauce that's overly sweet anyway. DH shakes his head at my american way of eating applesauce along with any meal, not just pork. LOL I may take the ones that have fallen in the past few days and make an apple pie this week.

The building of flats next door has a pear tree that is just loaded. I must speak to the landlord the next time I see him and see if he has plans for them. If not, I think some pear jam may be in order. :D

Have a good rest of your day and a nice bank holiday Monday. Hugs to those who want one.

    Peyton xx
