Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Sunday 30th August! It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Morning OS friends!
Bitsy - I love stationery too - something about paper and notepads and envelopes and pens... I always have way too much around the house!
Hester - thanks hon, it's been great as I have spoken to him three times this week!
Sunny - that is why I take notes:rotfl::rotfl:
Sistercas - he would take me in a flash but I am not good with crowds any more and cannot walk too far so I have just made him promise to take a pic and get an autograph.
Bargain - What a lovely pressie from your hubby! I am envious.
Noahs - big big

Pen-pin - Mint grows like a weed - its a much safer idea to put the cuttings into a pot and grow it there. I just take off all but two leaves and stick the cuttings into a pot of soil. They seem to grow really easily. As for belly pork, we just cook it on a rack in a roasting tin in the oven.. Mmmmm crackling...
Lady - oddly enough I do have a fantastic memory for conversations which is highly annoying for my friends and family as I can quote things back to them years after the event, but on here I read fast and never remember it all... I think I am more audibly focussed than visually!
Jayward - Hope you enjoy your fishcakes a la Diva!:rotfl:
My poor OH had to clean the filter in the washing machine yesterday so we have a huge pile of wet towels as it seems to throw out gallons of water every time we open it. And then he got to wash it out... he is a lucky boy!
Tristan is in a decidedly grumpy mood this morning. He has flu and is not feeling great so I am trying to be very patient with him. Any virus is not good with the state his health is in, but he will insist on trying to carry on as normal but in a stinking mood! I swear if he snaps at me one more time I will reach through the puter and slap him! :rotfl::rotfl:

Ok, well I hope you all have a quiet and relaxed Sunday. I intend to either do some baking - cheese and onion pasties and bread pudding, or catch up with the weeding in the garden!
Warm gentle

Morning:T
First I would like to thank you for all your good wishes and kind words re Squeak. She is definitely feeling better and getting back to being her usual feisty self which is a huge relief. Now I just need to get my son to hold her as he is scared as she only has one eye now. I suppose having pets teaches children the hard lessons in life like committment and caring skills but its been tough on me for the last 3 days. What with removing ticks from my westies (after an incident with hedgehog) and looking after Squeak its no wonder that all my dreams were a bit mixed up last night with Hedgehogs morping into guinea pigs...hey im waffling.
To Noah's Penniless Mum - I hope you got a bit of me time whilst DS away..I have recently had 3 MRI scans. I quite enjoy them as I visualise that Im a snug and cosy bear hibernating in a cave...it works for me!!!!!
MSD - It was nice to know i was not the only one up at some awful hour yesterday.
Well a quiet day today. The children's dad is taking them and my dogs out for a walk round a NT property as he has a membership. So I think a quiet afternoon in front of Poirot!! I might encourage onr of my kids to make some Banana Bread as there is a glut. Keep watching the Reading Festival to see if I can see my son but no news is good news - when do us mums stop worrying
With lots of hugs for a lovely day,
MollyI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning.
Just popped in. I have to go to work at Newquay this weekend.... It's all a bit quiet for a bank holiday though.
Not much else going on. Ate the first of my sweetcorn last night which was delicious.
Have a nice day whatever you are doingNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Morning everyone.
Diva - I love a good notebook and pen. It always seems such a shame to write in a new notebook (gosh don't I sound like a freak!). I always loved the going back to school stationery, picking a new pencil case, new pens etc. I am definately a nut job LOL!
I seriously enjoyed my mooch round HobbycraftWe are so pleased because it's now the most local haberdashery for us, rather than having to trawl into local town and pay for parking (retail park is free
) I didn't spend any money although I have a wish list going
Not much going on here today. H is knackered after busy week at work. I've been awake since 5.20am with DS as he decided that was waking up time. Despite me getting into his bed he never went back off to sleep so neither did IThis sounds awful but he'll end up having a nap this afternoon and that means he'll go to bed later. I love my kids but I do value the couple of hours we have once they've gone to bed. If DS has a nap that all but disappears
Anyway washing nearly up to date, just need to iron it. Completed all my meal plans. I have 7 weeks worth of meals so we just tend to stick it on rotation. I haven't the time or the energy to do it every week and I think if I did I'd only cook the same old thing. Have 7 weeks worth means we get a bit more variety. Hopefully then I can get stuck back into shopping more carefully.
Haven't caught up with yesterdays thread so will head off and have a nose.

Its raining in West Yorkshire! I'm off to work in a few minutes, just waiting for my mum to come to look after dd. I'm only doing 3-4 hours as we are short staffed so that'll be extra sunday money.
Going to a local village show with dd and my mum and then tea-roast of some sort back at mums.
I must must must do my ironing this evening-I've run out of trousers!
I too LOVE a new notebook.
Got to go, mum's here.

Morning everyone,
The weekend has just flown by. We took DGS back yesterday. Poor Ninny. Arranged to meet halfway. After we dropped him off we went to visit DH Aunties and then bought tea. Got home around 8pm last night. Made a pot of zuchinni & parmesan soup this morning. DS2 came up for a chat as he's leaving tomorrow.
Been doing some research on our holiday but I wasn't in the mood so decided to play Jewel Quest. That game is so addictive. Hot & dry again today. Will get stuck into the house tomorrow. Boring. I have to take in a car cover for a friend as well sometime this week.
Hope everyone's enjoying their weekend. <hugs> to those poorly. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Morning all:j
Suddenly it has become very overcast here - was lovely this morning while I was having my coffee. Not too upset though as am driving to Hastings with parents to visit my sister in her new cottage and I don't like being too hot in the car.
Had a lovely evening last night at BestF's house - they have built a fire pit in their (huge) garden and we all sat around the fire whilst the food cooked in a poijke (sp) pot - bit like a witches cauldron that hangs over the fire on a metal A-frame gadget thing! Just sat talking, drinking, eating and putting the world to rights - the sort of evening that memories are made of.
Will take DS some HM bread, HM damson jam and HM yoghurt this morning - along with a bottle of bubbly for her new house:rotfl:
Hope you all have a lovely day whatever you are doing.
