Just checking something, the direct debit thing. It's all or nothing ? I'd be ok about switching one d/d but to qualify for the A&L £100 it stipulates all. That is right ? Everything on the old account has to be transferred to A&L ?

Edit : What a palavar. Pretty sure the above is correct so ...... I've set up one d/d on a 'spare' Nat West current account, I'll wait till the end of the month ( to allow time for it to get active ) and then I'll 'switch' from Nat West to A&L. The shenanigans I go through to get £150.00 ( A&L & Quidco ).

trying to figure out if this will work because I don't want to change my account I just want the cash,
If I set up a single standing order from an unused account (nationwide for say £50 to my main account) open the alliance and leicester account use their switching service to transfer the 1 standing order and pay in £500pm into A&L from my main account and then transfer it straight back again?
    am I missing anything
p.s. could i then cancel the £50 standing order
    Yes Your Dukeiness :D

    No.
To qualify for the £100 switching incentive you have to switch all the Direct Debits from your existing account. No DDs no £100.
    Otherwise your plan is ok.

    From the A+L website.
    http://www.alliance-leicester.co.uk/current-accounts/premier-100-switching.aspx?&ct=currhubrhspromopanel

"The £100 switching offer is only available on the Premier Current Account (this does not include Premier Direct, Premier 21 or Premier 50 Current Accounts). Offer is limited and is only open to customers accepted for a Premier Current Account. A letter will be sent to confirm when the switching process has completed. If you do not have any direct debits to switch you will not receive £100"

    http://www.alliance-leicester.co.uk/current-accounts/premier-current-account.aspx

"To qualify for this offer you must switch all your direct debits and pay at least £500 from a non-Alliance & Leicester account into your account within 11 weeks of account opening"

I did a similar thing last week.
Moved two DDs to a spare Halifax account. They were showing up within 4 days. I then applied for the A+L account via quidco.

Those two are mutually exclusive aren't they?
  • It says on the A+L website, that you need to pay in at least £500 each month or you may get charged with a fee. So could I pay in £500 in month 1, few days later withdraw say £500, then in next month do the same thing?
Also, after receiving the £100 cashback how long do you have to keep the account open?

    Thanks.

Milliseconds! (although it may take a little longer than that to transfer any active DDs away first)

hmmm, seem very disorganised, applied online and had an e-mail saying i had been accepted, then had a letter saying I hadn't met the listed criteria - i met every one on the list on the letter (!), binned it - now received another letter about managing my accounts online - think I'll stay with Bank of Scotland ....get your act together A&L !
