Why oh why did I go to Vodafone?

  • @ NASA I'm confused by this? Why are they refusing to do the repair?

I've had my SE w960i LCD screen fixed twice now by Vodaphone. 1st time it was a manufacturers fault (so free) 2nd was my doing. Both times I've just taken it to the local Voda store they've looked at it, told me if it was a free repair or not (second time they said £40) sent it off and I've had it back in 4-7 days.

So if they've quoted you a cost to fix and you've agreed it then it should be done.

@ movilogo all electronic devices are manufactured with a certain life span and are actively designed to fail after the warranty period. Call me a cynic but SE have been haemorrhaging money for years from their phone business and have dropped their phone warranties from 2 to 1 year

They now arent. Its away back to them again. I'm kinda confused.

Telephone customer services say one thing but they just seem to be reading from contact history.

Got a phone call yesterday from Vodafone shop and they are saying again that it is beyond economic repair, which as I said before, I dont have a major problem with. I could have been told this ages ago though and either bought a new phone or made alternative arrangements.

The Web Relations Team at least tried to sort it out whereas the telephone customers services were difficult to deal with and seem to have a bit of an attitude though I can understand that as its a !!!! job.

I'm almost relieved that I have a final answer even though it isnt the one I wanted.

It wasnt so much that they wanted my authorisation to repair it, they wanted authorisation to charge me £40 to repair it so sent it back, then I explicitly gave my authorisation and they sent it back because it was beyond economic repair, that was the frustrating part because if they had just said at the start that 'they' (And I dont think its Vodafone that actually do the repair) were not going to fix it then I would have been able to get a new phone sorted ages ago.

Frustration aside, the WRT are a credit to Vodafone from my experience, they have done what they could and when I have everything sorted out completely I will say thanks and mean it.
