Why oh why did I go to Vodafone?

They kept sending my soon-to-be motherinlaw bills for £15 a month 3 months after she PAC'd out to another network

bit pricey, but then it's a pricey phone. They are very good and ususally only take 3 working days.
Not sure I can see from this thread whether or not the phone developed a fault or if the OP damaged it in use.
If it is the former, then when you send it out to a 3rd party, get a written estimate of cause from the independent 3rd party and, if phone fault, inform Vodafone and take out a MCOL case against them, assuming it is in the 1st 12 months.0 -
I damaged the phone by accident so that wouldnt apply to me though it is useful to know for future reference. Not sure I can see from this thread whether or not the phone developed a fault or if the OP damaged it in use.

Thanks. Then look in your local paper and check there isn't some local Mr Fix-it you can actually drop it in to and talk face-to-face.
Good luck,
i would advise against this. you need to use an authorised nokia repair centre or your warrenty could be voided if some random market bloke does it. i believe that's correct but am happy to be told different if it's not!
seeing as you still have 19 months still to run on what is likely an expensive contract with a notoriously faulty phone i'd keep the warrenty intact if i were you.

Forgive me, and I don't want to get into an argument, but what good is a warranty if you have to pay for the repairs yourself? Yse, it might cover other faults in the future, but the get out clause is that "it has been repaired already following self-damage and that has cause this new fault".0 -

there were a lot of bugs in the n96 and i still get a lot back for repair. most repairs are covered on the warrenty but a cracked lcd is not.
fair enough you could get a cheaper repair, but six months down the line when it could start freezing, turning itself off etc you will have to pay again, and again, and again to get it fixed. The customer only has to pay in this instance because he has damaged his phone himself, it hasen't gone faulty.
with regard to the get out clause you mention if you use an authorised repair centreit is irrelevant. It would have been their work that could have caused another fault and therefore would still be covered under warrenty iyswim?

Ok. That seems sound. It would still be better if there was an authorised repair centre locally. We have (had?) one locally and I dropped my Nokia in a few years back. No wories about faceless people and Royal Mail. So still worth checking local paper/directory first.
Presumably fonefix.com are authorised?0 -
yes they are authorised and are by far the best repair centre i have ever used!! when we had a local nokia one it was nowhere near as good, which might have somthing to do with why it shut down! fonefix have around a 3 day turnaround if they can repair the handset there. occasionaly they have to forward it to a higher level repair centre. I've had sonys and motorola phones away at repair centres for months on end. they are shocking.
and don't even get me started on trs........;.....

Why I hear so many phones needing repair nowadays? Any mobile should last for 4-5 years at least under normal usage [few accidental drops to ground included].
Looks like similar to modern cars, latest mobiles die before their forefathers!Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0
