Why oh why did I go to Vodafone?

Their customer service is crap.

I sent my phone off to be repaired two weeks ago, in the knowledge that I might have to pay for it to be repaired, it was returned to me today with a note saying that it hadnt been repaired as they had not been able to get my authorisation to do the repair.

They left a voicemail for me to get my authorisation:rolleyes:

Nice one lads - I've not got my phone so cant get the message.

They had my e-mail address and were able to contact me that way. Now I have to go to the nearest store, two towns over, and get them to send it off for repair. In the meantime I have now been without my phone for 3 weeks and will probably have to wait another 2 weeks before I get it back.

You have to snigger - sorry.
But I guess they think you might have a replacement phone whilst your phone is under repair or being looked at.

Insist that they give you a temporary phone to use when you take it back.

    Hi NASA,

It's disappointing to read about your experience here.

I've tried the 'Contact Us' before and dont find it to be a great help. The replies are quite general rather than being customer specific. That isnt really a criticism though as it seems to be a trade standard.

I got a text this morning saying that my phone is on its way back to the 'local' store. Feeling a bit relieved that I would be getting my phone back I logged onto vodafone.co.uk/repairs just to make doubly sure that it had been repaired and was on its way back. Clicked on the repair code and was informed that it was being sent back unrepaired and that a fuller explanation would be given.

So, after four weeks, my phone has been sent away twice, returned twice, and it is still not repaired. I'm guessing that I am just going to have to buy a new phone as the one I am paying £30 quid a month for is not going to get repaired, or, depending on what reason they give, will be another 3-4 months before it happens.

It wouldnt be so disappointing if they had just said they wouldnt repair it after the first week of having my phone and why, if they werent going to repair it for another reason, return it to me saying that they couldnt get my authorisation for the £40 charge when that was totally irrelevant.

I've another 19 months to go with Vodafone and even at this early stage I know I am probably going to go elsewhere at the end of it.

    Its an N96.

The fault is that the screen is damaged, not the top part which you can touch, but underneath that. I basically cant see the display.

My quibble, now, isnt that I have to pay, or even that they wont repair it, but if they werent going to repair it (Even after I gave authorisation for the £40 charge) then why not tell me that at the earliest possible stage rather than ask me to send it off a second time.

  • My recent experience of Vodafone has left a sour taste in my mouth. At least be grateful that they have sent your phone off. I've been waiting since June!!! At frequent times my phone has been unusable but they are still happy to collect their monthly fee. Same with allot of companies that once they get your money that is all they care about.

Are they a reputable company? I only ask as I havent heard of them before.

If you could get a quote that would be handy. Thanks.
