    Morning all :hello:

I was rudely awakened by the girls playing fashion shows on the landing so although I've been up for hours, done a load of washing, made breakfasts, fed the birds and dog and cat and now I'm back in bed with a coffee and the laptop :o.

OH did lots of DIY for me yesterday including putting up shelves in the spare room. It's a spare room/tv room for the girls/craft room for me so it needs to be organised. He's also attempting to fix our 80 year old storm doors before the winter . I spent most of the day organising the cupboard at the top of the stairs with wine making kit as I got so much of it from freecycle. That meant shifting all the junk that was in there and finding new homes for it all.
Looks bright and blowy here so I think we'll stick to our plan for some foraging. We have an old forestry track that we get good mushrooms from, particularly chantarelles  Also need to get some blackberries which are finally ripening.
May bake a quick cake before we go as the baking box has been depleted of all it's scones and apple braid  and I fancy taking a flask and cake with us :D.
Tea will be salmon fishcakes and HG salad.

Sorry about your fall Jackie. Take care. x
Well done to Taplad on his new job!!
Glad Thursday went well DG. Have fun tonight.
Bargainbird I'm jealous of your Kenwood. I still use my MIL's magimix from the seventies :o.
Sorry for your loss Burp. x

    Good morning,

Bitsy I feel your pain. Ds woke at 5:25 and shouted me nearly every 3 minutes or so until his light came on at 6:00am. I have explained to him that he must not get up until his light comes on. I am looking at it as the 4 year old version of the controlled crying thing, so after replying to the 1st shout and telling him to go back to sleep so he knew he hadn't been abandoned, I ignored him.

I was letting him get up at 5:15 etc, and giving him milk and a biscuit, but my friend pointed out that I am actually rewarding his early waking, so we're on day 2 of not getting out of bed until he's supposed to. Parenting is so complicated.

I am sitting with the Bero book in front of me. I have joined the grocery challenge, and will be revisiting all of the things that I used to make such as scones, cheese scones and scotch pancakes (drop scones to some of you). Ds seemed a bit disbelieving when I told him we could make scotch pancakes instead of buying them in a packet. Bad mummy moment!

    Take care all of you

:rotfl: him shouting every 3 mins. thing is once I know they are awake I can't switch off and just wait for the noises to get louder :o DD is now turning into a shrieker so if she wakes early I have no choice to get up otherwise she will wake DS. If it's not one child it's the other.

H has had to go into work :( so I suspect no Hobbycraft for me today. He hopes to not be that long (he worked til after 10pm last night (he normally works 9-5) but they've have to move loads of people round the office and there are some jobs that have cropped up as a result of the move.
Stripped the beds, will put them on the line as soon as they are done and take advantage of the breeze AND sunshine.
Found out the place where I worked just put the whole company on a 4 day week (with one department on 3 day week). am kinda glad I left TBH as I suspect me and the girl I job share with would have either had to compete for redunancy or dramatically cut our hours too (this is a firm of Solicitors so things must be bad for them at the mo!)
I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife :D Louise Brooks

I had to lie there biting the pillow, lol, but I'm not giving in to him. If I thought he was getting enough sleep it would be different, but he's not, and he starts school a week on Monday. I've been trying to keep him quiet in case he annoys the neighbours, but after their 2 year old kept me awake from 4:15 until 4:45 on Monday night (I was sleeping in ds's room as SIL was staying) I decided that it didn't really matter. That was the morning that ds woke at 4:55 and decided to get up for the day, so for the sake of my sanity, I want him to go back to sleeping until 6:00am.

He's only been doing this for 3 weeks - since the morning he fell out of bed at 4:30am and was so hysterical we ended getting up for the day.

I know now it is hard to imagine, but one day you'll find yourself yelling 'get up it's half past nine!' at them;)

    PenPin cute Scottie:T

Well, I'm eating hm granola for breakfast -yum yum -there seems to have been a granola rush yesterday lol!

Everyone has gone out so it is lovely and peaceful.

Not sure what lunch will be. OH will probably request 'red soup' if I ask, so maybe I'll do that. It's just beans, veg with passata and stock as the liquid. I usually make it pretty spicy.

Supper is mince. I think I put chilli on my meal plan. I've run out of spuds so we'll have rice with it. Oh hang on that means two very similar meals. Maybe we'll have keema curry instead:think:

What else can I do with 1lb of mince that doesn't require potatoes, beans or pasta 'cos we had that for lunch yesterday? To feed 5? Any ideas?

Mince and onion pie? Or cobbler?:D

Very cute dog PP... I have always liked Scotties or Westies but we really couldn't afford to buy a pedigree (I can't believe how much they are:eek:) so settled for a Heinz instead. :D

I forgot to say that I made some lovely savoury mince the other day with lamb that needed using. I put in onion, mixed frozen peppers, mushroom, chopped carrot and swede (from garden & OH chopped-I'm not allowed near knives..lol) and some peas. Added a little stock with an oxo and was delish with mash spuds!

Also I was going to ask about Belly Of Pork. How do you cook? Its cheap to buy and alot of chefs are now using but its always quite fatty:confused:...I had it at a restaurant a couple of weeks ago but would I slow cook in SC or oven?

PP and anyone else who's children got their results....WELL DONE!! You must all be very proud.

Sorry to post again today but am feeling more with it and dont know how long it will last.
