Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Saturday 29th August! It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Morning all!
welcome2.gifTwilight girl and don't be scared - not many of us bite!!
lilibet - So sorry about the house(s). Hope you find a new buyer soon.
Mioliere - Nice to see you posting again and glad you had a fabulous time back here with all your family - old and new!
Bitsy - well done on your good deed for the day!
n9eav - Cptn Jaspers is a bit of a legend.. I have had one of those hot dogs, they are realllly good!
Burp - sorry for your loss
Lady - I might appear very sad to say this but I open notepad and make a note of things I want to reply to because I would never remember otherwise! :o Hope that doesn't make me sound too anal...:rotfl:

Celyn - hugs honey
Noahs - I am sorry you are so worried about the MRI, and I think you are a wonderful mum, it cannot be easy at times.
Beth - Of course we remember you and it's great to have you back!

We had rain yesterday morning but in the afternoon the sun came back out which was lovely! No doubt the weeds are running riot now after 2 days of rain. My OH picked some more huge ripe strawberries last night so we shall have those today at some point. Managed to pick up some autumn bedding - primroses and wallflowers so am itching to get outside and spend some 'quality' time with my pots and tubs. :rotfl:

Dinner tonight will be a pie from the freezer with carrots from the garden with strawberries for dessert. I want to try making cheese pasties this week some time after the success of my corned beef ones! And today I must start my Tescos order to be delivered on the cheapest delivery charges which is Tues or Weds evening.

My OH had some exciting news for me. Next Saturday afternoon/evening at the pub in Taunton where he DJs, they are holding a fund raising event for the NSPCC and not only is Joss Stone going to make an appearance (plus lots of local bands etc) but so is John Barrowman! He has promised to get Johns autograph for me if he possibly can.

I hope you all have a great bank holiday weekend. My OH gets Monday daytime off work but has to work an extra night on Sunday so it's swings and roundabouts for us.

Anyway, warm gentle hugs.gif for anyone who wants one!

    Hi Guys,
Hope you all doing ok. Im up earlyto syringe feed one Guinea Piggy who is refusing to eat after her operation. I hope she starts soon as its every two hours or so and its not as easy as syringe feeding newborn babes which Im bery adept at!!!!

I have had a busy couple of days as my daughter had her interview for college and has got a place for two subjects but it on the waiting list for her third and fourth choice. Its such a supportive learning environment and I think and she thinks she will do much better. The only downside is a 1 hour bus journey but They are so geared up to help her with her dyslexia - I have two kids who are badly affected and one who is borderline! her dad came with us and drove us = he has been so supportive since i have been ill.

Well a cuppa is calling me. Hope everyone has a peaceful day.

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

  • Morning Molly!

I am just up talking to my friend Tris in America.

Hope the guinea pig starts eating soon, two hourly feeds sounds exhausting! Animals, who would have them? My cat is sat right next to me purring loudly and trying to rest her head on the mouse as she sleeps, I keep having to move her to use it. I wouldn't mind so much but she dribbles when she purrs! :rotfl:

Hope you manage to catch up on some sleep and good luck to your daughter on getting the placement she wants.

    Morning everyone.
Had rubbish nights sleep. DS woke to go to loo at 3.30 (he lies in bed and just shouts he wants a wee!) then at stupid o'clock he's crawling into our bed, demanding a drink and taking over all the space in the bed. Got fed up with his whispering in the end and went to sleep in his bed (which is not so good for my back). Then from 5.30am DD was making noises and finally woke good and proper at 6am. Can't wait til these kids discover the joys of lying in til 7am.......

Anyway going to finish off my meal plans this morning. Haven't been sticking to them lately and I think it's because I've been getting a bit bored. Found out some lovely new sausage receipes so need to write up all my new receipes and sort out my plans.
Probably try and get some housework done, kids bedrooms need doing and bed need stripping.
Have persuaded H to have the kids whilst I head back up Hobbycraft for a good mooch around. Got no money to spend but I like to drool all over the stock (even the coloured card - I just love stationery!). He originally suggested taking kids up with me and he'll go off for a wander round Halfords but TBH they'll just get bored and I'll still feel under pressure to be really quick in the store. Sometimes I just don't want the kids in tow.
Anyway I've rambled on enough. Feels a bit fresh this morning (clear skies) so had to put on my nice warm snuggly dressing gown. It definately feels like the end of summer to me.
Right going to treat myself to a hot chocolate I think this morning. Fancy a change from coffee.

NPM - sorry to hear about your MRI scan. I've not had one myself but am also claustrophobic. Might be worth (if you have time) Googling for some deep breathing techniques to try and keep you calm.

Have a good bank hols everyone, OS or not.

    Morning guys

beautiful and sunny outside but i know that it won`t last, shame but i intend to make the most of it. I`ll be off out with the doggies when my cuppa is finished and then an hour in the greenhouse is called for before taking Dad to the supermarket.

Yesterday i got sidetracked by the phone and a visitor so i didn`t get half of my bottling and pickling done, that i shall have to fit in today.

Diva - i`m awful at remembering who`s done what etc, some times it takes me all day to read the thread on and off especially when at w*rk so by the time i get around to posting i can`t remember a thing :o

    Burp - ((((HUGS))))

JackieO - Sorry to hear about your fall, glad you enjoyed your hols though!

I ordered all my bits and bobs for next year from thompson & morgan last night, they have free p&p until Monday and i found a 10% off code too :j this time i`ve ordered blight resistant potatoes and tomatoes as well as a ton of other stuff :o the code also let me order 5 free lavender plants too so i am a very happy bunny. A couple of things were out of stock but i`ll order them at a later date when i can find more offers. My garden has done really well from t&m this year and most of it has been free:j

I`m off out to enjoy the sun!

    Have a sunny Saturday peeps.

    Morning All

MSD - John Barrowman! think there will be a few jealous people on here today :D

Didnt catch up with the thread yesterday so (((hugs))) to anyone who needs one.

Was very windy here yesterday so a perfect drying day, loads of washing got done & I only have the few bits that came off the line last to iron :jso they will get done today. Had a very quick but extrememly loud thunder storm last night that really shook the house. Its much fresher this morning, in fact its darn chilly.

Today will be a pottering day, will have a big fry up for lunch then just sandwiches tonight before we head out to a party. Not sure if any bacon in but once done menu plan will be heading to the butchers anyway.

As noone else is up yet am enjoying the peace and quiet but think I will give the kitchen worktops a good clean & the kitchen windows & blinds too, not a pleasant job but you really notice it when its done so ofski in a mo to get the stardrops and vinegar ready................

    Have a great Saturday.x

    Morning all

Well, it's beautifully sunny here at the moment. The day has a real autumn mellow feel about it which I love.

Diva - pen & paper is a good idea. Will do that but not at the moment as I'm too comfortable :p.
Molly - hope the guinea pig improves.

I'm hoping to get back on the OS wagon today, having fallen off spectacularly. I actually have three days off now and not even on call this weekend so it feels like a real treat.

Will call in again later. DD2 is up now so will have a chat with her before she goes to work,

    Have a good day everyone.

    Morning all
Hugs to JackieO, NPM & PP. Glad you are able to chat to Tris MSD
Lovely & sunny here today, 1st load of washing on the line, I hope it stays nice for the Festival, I shan't be going anywhere near Reading til it's over as the traffic will be a nightmare. It was very blustery yesterday, we nearly lost our gazebo, I bet it was fun for those putting tents up.
My DD is back from Las Vegas today, so looking forward to seeing her & DSIL.
I shall carry on altering clothes this weekend & have a brand new wardrobe in time for the start of term.
    Have a good day.
