  • Hello ladies

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend, despite the fact it's a bit grey and mis today (well definitely in London anyway).

I am blessed with officially the LOVLIEST parents in the world (biased I know but bear with me). They have made my flat a much, much better place to be. My mum bought two massive slate-grey square pots which we planted up with a box ball and a long grass in the other called 'Wind Dancer' and finished off with posh white gravel on the top, plus rosemary, bay, chives, thyme and some lovely little yellow flowers - we spent yesterday afternoon potting up and arranging it all and my balcony now looks gorgeous (I'll learn how to put pics up here in a bit). Also, they bought my birthday present which was a 32" flat screen TV!!! I've had the same old clunky one for 9 years almost and it's v outdated but I wasn't expecting THAT! Apparently it's part of my Xmas present as well as it was quite pricey but that's brilliant because I was only worrying recently that if my TV gave up the ghost I couldn't afford to replace it.
They also gave me the money for my haircut and a bit extra for 'living'.

I am always riddled with guilt whenever anyone does anything nice for me (low self esteem anyone?) so have spent the weekend feeling very ashamed as I'm not a good enough daughter to warrant that sort of thing, but have made it clear how grateful I am! Love them so much.

RM - How's the birthday cake coming? So funny you're going to be in Cornwall the same time as me (I'm going that week, too) but I'm going to be miles away from you I'm afraid. We're going right down the Lizard to the Helston area. Can't wait though - my dad's bought a stunt kite so I'm going to learn how to fly it!

Anyway, sorry for the long post but I was all full of amazement and had to share it! x

    Evening All,
I managed to go all dat only having a ciggie after an hour - am very proud of myself. Cake made and filled, just need to melt chochie for top and put candles on tomorrow. Have been re-claiming the garden all afternoon and now have 6 bags of rubbish, am very tired but it's a good start.

Ruby: What a shame you're going to other end off Cornwall, if you'd been nearer was going to suggest a meet. What lovely parents you have, you sound like you have had a lovely time.

I don't know how to move the thread either - hopefully someone may know or if not we can keep under the radar!

Going to watch another film now. Nite all.x

    Hi all,

Found the thread too and just checking in! Only got 2 days hols left them back to boring Scotland, got another week off work tho, yeah!

Think the thread is fine where it is, won't have to keep starting a new one as there are loads with hundreds of pages, so we shouldn't be moved again.

Hope everyone is having a fab weekend, be back soon xxx

Hey Rubes - doing better at the moment. I have to go to the doctors in about a week anyway, so I am going to have a chat then - also as advised I will write down a list of symptoms(!)

Everything seemed to go a bit better last week - so am feeling much more like me now!!;)

Ok- so I had a good weekend, generally. I was nice to catch up with friends, some close friends of ours announced they are 5 weeks pregnent (it's a big deal, thay have been trying for 3.5 years and 4 rounds of IVF, and she's showing already tiny bump) so that was good. fingr crossed evrything will go ok now!! :o

The bad stuff- by far and away I was the fattest girl there. And pretty much all the others were either actually pregnant or had just had kids! And I was the youngest. Seriously depressing!! At one point I was too cold and OH said 'why don't you see if you can borrow something off of M?' I quite rightly said - 'As if- M is half the size of me!!' to which OH responded. 'Well she's just had a baby she will have all her maternity stuff!!!' Seriously? How freeking stupid a thing was that to say?! Freeking maternity stuff!!! I'm a whale!!!!!!!:eek:

Then there was the point when I was completely ignored and blanked from a conversation because I hadn't had kids yet... that was nice. Nothing like a bit of ostracisation to set the mood for a party!!

So yeah, nor feeling 100% great about myself at the moment. Starting a diet for real tomorrow. Going back to eating the Slimming World way which has worked for me before.

bye 4 now, pop back on later

ps Sold that darn crystal frog!! I think that counts as 'hot cakes' as it was a 30 day auction and sold within 3! Tempted to stick up the penguins next.. :rotfl:
