was in my local Tescos at Gillingham with my DD on Wednesday but saw no milk at 65p, have I missed something.I have been buying mine in Iceland at £1.00 for a 4 pinta of semi-skimmed.
Have £4.76 left out of this weeks budget and will pop in to Aldis to get some leeks as I think they are on the offer atm. Nothing else to buy though so I will keep my purse firmly closed over the week-end.Roll on Tuesday as it will be the last week of the month. We are all doing great though aren't we, well done ladies :beer:
P.S. have unearthed a big tin of Marvel thats still in date from the back of my cupboard .Can anyone tell me how much to use to make a pint, I think I bought it after Christmas in case the weather turned too frosty for me to go out and have never used it. I know you can use it by the spoonful in tea/coffee but I wondered if I could use it to make custard or rice pudding if it was made up to a pint .There doesn't seem to be any measurements on the tin.

The nutritional info on the Mr T website says

Per 57g Serving 1 Pint when Made Up

so I would say 57g powder, and add water to the 1 pint mark

It's the Wiseman Fresh N Lo 2 litre bottles - according to mysupermarket, the offer's on until the 23rd, but it's not in every store (there's a big one near me that's never carried it, but the little Metro always does). Managed to get 8 bottles this morning - nice long dates too.


I've not added my shop up from this morning yet, but seeing as I also got some of the bogof Roses tins from the Co-op for christmas, and a couple of bags worth of reduced bread, I think I've hit budget - a week early :doh:

But, take off the christmas bits, and the stuff I picked up for DS2s birthday, both of which would normally have a separate budget, and I could still do it - the question is do I fiddle the figures to make it look good for once, or admit defeat again

Have just declared £220.09 for August, (my month goes from the 19th to the 18th) so I decided last month that I would be behind everyone and stay in August. I have now changed my mind again and I would like to jump a month as I felt as though I missed so much.
Therefore could you please put me down as £190 for October.

Heres to a much better month.

hi not been here for a couple of days,bought quite a few bits ,cleaning things i don't like vinegar:o £3.30 got a lot for my money big bag potatoes and other bits so spent £18 got cereal to last over a month while on offer.next month will be the real start of being very good as my oh's pay in lu of notice runs out:eek:

Hi everyone

haven't been able to post for a few days so have just spent some time catching up with everyone.

Mrs Tradition- sorry for tardy reply but re freezing leeks - I just chop them up, wash thoroughly, sometimes pour boiling water over them , or I sometimes dunk them in pot of boiling water to blanche them, then I just freeze in bags. I use them mainly in soups and they have always been o.k.

Have made bramble jelly and it is delicious. Planned to put some in Christmas hampers but have given it all away to friends and family. Perhaps I will be given some more brambles and the next batch will reach my store cupboard.

Will make some banana muffins today with some "past it" bananas but other than that I plan to have a lazy day.

Popping in to update signature amount; spent £46.47 in Sainsbury's yesterday after voucher deducted. Pleased with that as it included a half leg of lamb whoopsied from £9.24 to £4.89. This morning I have picked up a big bag of potatoes and another of onions and spent a further £8 on those together. Fingers crossed for some NSDs now, especially if I can get some baking done on Saturday afternoon...

I've been awol for a little while due to sinking under the mire of life with 5 kids ( and having had flu etc etc etc :rolleyes:)

So August ended up being about £500 instead of my usual £800 and it looks like September is going to be the same. So very much hoping to get my backside into gear and get this spending down to £300 for October. I'm going to sit this month out and start again Oct 2nd.

Does anyone have any tips regarding storing fruit and veg? I buy enough for the week but by the end I find things have got decidedly manky, I tend to buy apples and bananas, potatoes, carrots and onions with whatever else is planned for the week but these are my staples. Thanks all

Another NSD for me today which is just as well as I'm already over Budget.:o

Today is my day off from the Kitchen so Dinner tonight is the usual Friday dinner of Fish, HM Chips using spuds from the Garden and mushy peas.;)

ChocClare - have copied that Tuna recipe, looks good so going to try that some time next month as have a couple of tins of tuna in the Cupboard, not as many as you cw18!!;)
