Morning all,
Congratulations to Miss Penguin:j Is she going to art college instead of doing A levels Penny? I went down the art route a long time ago and illustration was something I seriously considered for a long time. My mum still thinks I have wasted my small artistic talent (and my teaching degree:rolleyes:). Best of luck to her it sounds like a wonderful choice of career.
DS1 was supposed to be going on an exercise with the air cadets at Nescliffe in Shropshire today (until Sunday) but the army have comandeered the training centre so it has been cancelled. He doesn't seem too unhappy about it, I think he's secretly relieved, he came back from the squadron cheerfully abusing the army :rotfl: They were going to be sleeping in the open with bivouacs. We've had to buy a few bits and pieces for the weekend but he'll need them at some point as there'll be other exercises.
OK, a bank holiday weekend ahead:j and then four more days of school holidays.
Oh how I love:happyhear September:happyhear, my favouritest month of the year:D
Today
Laundry
Bedmaking
Breadmaking -didn't get round to it yesterday
Sampling DS1's hm ginger beer
Buying a couple of bottles of wine -we seem to have drunk some of our weekend supplies already..... hic..
Lunch - no idea -soup probably
Supper - trout fillets, oven 'fries', peas and carrots0 -

You will not regreat buying your self a caravan. Even buying one that you tow will give ypu the freedom to go off for a few days on the cheep.
My moms and dads is a static one but its shared between me, my brother and my mom and dad so gets used lots. But not cheep to buy or keep really. the ground rent is about £1000 a year on it.
As the summer is coming to an end you will be able to pick a static one or one that you tow a lot cheeper than say in the spring. There should be some grat bargins coming up on the towing ones after the bank hoilday monday as this is the last one before xmas.
Good luck you wont regret getting a Van!:j:j:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -

Morning.
Went to Plymouth on the train yesterday as I wanted to wander around the hoe and get a Captain Jasper burger. I settled for the half yard of saugage! 45.7cm long hot dog. Delicious!
Cheers
Oh yes, dh and I are both Captain Jasper fans. It was the first place he took me to eat in Plymouth. Such a romantic he is :rotfl:
Burp sorry to hear about your nan. Even if it was the best for her, you'll still miss her.
Well done Miss Pen-pen
It's chucking it down here yet again, and quite windy too. I'd like to have a try at making soda bread today maybe. Any tips anyone? Ds can make some shortbread. It takes him ages to cut the shapes out, then a bowl of coloured icing and some sprinkles keeps him busy for even longer. Not quite traditional shortbread, but he and his friends (and one of my friend's husbands) seem to really enjoy them.
Take care all of you0 -
morning all!
Halight - hope you enjoy your weekend away!good luck with your pathways appointment.
Burp (((hugs))) so sorry for your loss x
Bitsy - well done on your good deed:T my good deed for yesterday was to get some heavy bottles off the top shelf at Tesco for a vertically challenged lady:D
Had our first Asda delivery last night - very impressed with the service - equally as good as Tesco in fact better because if they do any substitutions they still charge the original price even if it is more expensive - I got Andrex substituted for Asdas own brand loo roll at no more expense:T
Off to work later after cleaning the holiday cottage. Am sleeping in tonight too so not home till morning.
Washing is on the line - DH will get it in later.
tea for them is out of the freezer - their choice. Mine is free at work.
(((hugs))) to those feeling poorly - PP hope you're ok x
have a great weekend all xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Hi all
Was off work yesterday after another bad night (why I keep waking up to put imaginary snails outside is beyond me) - it's the fourth in a row and I am just not sleeping. OH insisted on staying home to look after me (which is sweet, but drives me mad) Had a fairly relaxing day yesterday, went to the new aldi and bought fruit and for a wander in the nature reserve, then spent all afternoon making more mini-food and working on a 1.5 x 1.5 m piece canvas I have been working on off and on for about two months.
I've sort of nearly finished, except I am about to start lettering again which is going to take ages(it's red and black with parts done in macrame in red cotton and says "Please do not tell me you don't have time, you have the same amount of time as...." then a list of inspirational people). I am rapidly running short of people (it's a very big canvas and a very small font!) so if you have any ideas I would be really pleased to add them - can be from any discipline
I have some gilding to do on some of the highlighted parts too. I need to keep busy.
OH's solicitor has finally put the court papers in for OH's divorce (it's taken over 2 years)I am very nervous - contested divorces are so rare in the UK and even more so when there is nothing to fight about. They tried everything to convince her not to defend, but nothing worked. I am very very stressed. I have a feeling it's going to cause a massive stir as they won't be expecting it, but enough is enough. Estimated costs for us are in the region of 5 - 10 K which we can ill afford, but I guess we'll manage somehow. The problem is we have had to put our lives on hold for ages whilst this is sorted out, we wanted to leave the country ages ago for example
and now it's getting to the stage where it just has to stop.
Edited to add: I've just looked snails up in a dream dictionaryApparently they mean unhealthy things urround me
that's sad, I like snails
At least I'm not stepping on them though - that would be worse
Well done miss pen-pen on you results
Burp - ((hug))
have a good day all, cel x:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
Morning all, Reporting on location
Last day of holiday today, and its sunny :j, going to have a quick shower, and then off out for the day, not sure where yet, we have decided to pack when we get back later, and leave everything tidy, then tomorrow morning get up and be away early, and hopefully miss the traffic. Its been a lovely holiday, but I want to get home to little dog, and to check my plants.
Burp, I am sorry to hear about your nan, would go ahead and get the mot done, you may need the car over the next few weeks xx
Well done to all those with good exam results, and commiserations to those who did not do so well xx
I think its fish and chips for tea, we have eaten at home every other night, so its our one treat :T
Have fun all xx0 -
Morning all.Again, thanks for the birthday wishes for yesterday.
Burp-so sorry for the loss of your dear gran.
Today is going to be an ironing day I think,to make up for my lazy day yesterday. The lads are at a wedding on Sunday, and staying over at the venue so need a few bits and bobs doing (and we're running out of clothes..)
I've not even been out with the dog yet-it was raining too hard, but sounds as though it may be easing off now.I can hear him yelping in his dreams though so he's not bothered.
I shall have a root around in the freezer to see what I fancy for tea,and then get cracking.
Halight- have a good break at the caravan.
NPM- the MRI may be just a precaution, but can certainly see why you are panicking a bit .Lots of hugs to you.x
Redruby- so glad youve had a lovely holiday.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -

Yes, she's doing a Diploma in Art and Design. She didn't think her GCSE results would be good enough to hack the A-levels (despite having an offer to do them at 6th form college; our school has no 6th form) but as they were so much better than predicted, that was what caused the indecission yesterdayThe art course looks fab - lots of different modules in Y1, then specialising and a big project in Y2. The college was very impressive, too. I'm sure she'll love it, and as it's a train journey and a short walk away, it'll give her loads of independence.
Your art and your degree will never be wasted - your parenting will be influenced by them, and the next generation of thrift-people will certainly benefit. I bet you can do that really scary thing that teachers do of knowing what small people are doing, even if they can't be seen  Is that actually taught on teaching degrees (along with careful aim of blackboard rubbers)
I'm looking forward to the weekend, so want to tidy the house, so I need do nothing more until TuesdayWell, apart from cooking stuff
Off to make some granola, and see what the small ones want for breakfast.
Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0
