Late charging for items not on final invoice

Options
Dear all

I have a query about an invoice I have recieved from a hotel. I recently got married and paid the final installment of our wedding the week before the wedding. The invoice was detailed with several costs (ouch!!!) however, they have miscalculated the total and havent included a room supplement cost of £100. The invoice included this costs but it didnt appear in the final amount i.e. they failed to add up all the itemised costs.

As far as I am concerned the invoice was a final invoice, detailing the Gross Amount payable. If they havent added up all the costs detailed on the invoice this is there problem.

The question is - am I right, or am I still liable for this additional cost?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Have another look on the invoice, is there a little phrase on there that says

E & O excluded or something to that effec. This means that E (errors) and O (ommisions) can be claimed for later when the invoice is double checked.

Not really sure what happens if it isnt there though
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • Hi McKneff

There is no reference to E and O on the invoice anywhere.

There were no T and C's sent with it either. It was emailed to me

Wait and see what others say, but in all honesty, personally I would just pay up, youve had the service after all, It was an honest mistake after all, weve all done it and
someone is going to get into major trouble if you dont.

so you expect something for nothing, just pay up and be done with it
    mortui non mordent
  • No, i dont expect something for nothing - maybe should have explained a little more. When we arrived they had failed to paint the long balcony at the hotel where our guests were congregating to be served champagne and where we were getting our photos taken. Since we got our photos back we have been quite annoyed - the background looks terribel and shabby

This hotel is part of a large 4/5 star chain, with facilities worldwide. So, to be honest, i grudge paying the extra!!

But its not really extra if you actually had the service .

  • I never said it was extra - but I DO grudge paying for it.

Anyway - I thought this was a consumer advice forum?

doesnt extr and additional mean the same thing?

It is a money saving forum.
You are getting advice but its just not what you want to hear.
You want everybody to agree with you and tell you to go to trading standards,
Hotel head office, and how not to pay the extra but lifes not like that I'm afraid.
Cant help any more than that as far as legalites go. If you want legal advice go and pay a solicitor at £150 an hour.

  • No need for that!! Its not a case of 'not liking the reply' - as I think I have quite clearly explained.

I asked for consumer advice but you are giving me moral and ethical advice. If you have nothing useful to add I suggest you dont reply to the original question!

    Thanks for you assistance anyway
  • Oh, and one other thing. This is a Consumer Rights forum which is part of a money saving site. Just thought id clarify that

    Thanks again
