Thank you WABL - funnily enough my oldest (mini-me) has come downstairs complaining about how much her legs hurts, it has been hurting for weeeeekkkkks now - funny that she didn't mention it until now and also funny she managed a whole hour and half of dancing without any problems. I offered to cut it off for her to assist and she soon scarpered!
I do think though, without the kids, this would not be an easy journey. Essentially I am doing it for them, as they need to appreciate and respect money, and I was brought up on the basis of want it, buy it,something I have carried with me for years  My kids are being brought up of want it, save/work for it!
They have both stuck to their housework jobs and seeing how much I owe them  and they are both that tight they are putting it in their money boxes!
I know I'm lucky that I can pay extra off, I am also very aware that can all change if CC deals run out but I remain forever hopeful and I am quite happy to ring up and beg for a deal if necessary
Look forward to getting to know you x1st debt - Next [STRIKE]£583.32[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£408.71 [/STRIKE] £0 :j

ha ha ha!!! this made me laugh as my fella says this all the time to our kiddies!!
well done for your overpayments, feels good dont it?!?!?!?! you seem to have a good attitude to money........I to was brought up you want it, ok then here you go. My mum is still the same and passed that way of thinking on to me and my brother. I have seen the light but they havent much to my dads annoyance. (he was in the army when i was growing up so didnt have much to do with the house money)
keep going, time will fly by before you know it!

Sounds like things are going well! Totally agree about educating the kids - my dad always said I was the sensible one with money, which I was, but my downfall was not planning for things, not looking forward - oh and an ex-OH who spent money like it grew on trees (usualy my money:mad:)
I emphasise to DDs (aged 5 and 3 bless them!) about saving pennies, making sure we have enough for the most important things first then working out how much we have left after for anything else. I really think practical stuff like this should be compulsory in schools!Dealing with my debts!Currently overpaying Virgin cc -balance Jan 2010 @ 1985.65Now @ 703.63

:hello: Thought I'd pop in with my good news, bad news (confession!).
Good news is we got DH's wage slip today, he was overpaid by £300 last month and we thought it was his commission which was due (and a little disappointed as we expected more). Turned out he has had a tax refund, so we still get to receive his commission - hopefully next month now :j
Got my stuff down from the loft for Ebay, to make up the shortfall from this month. Includes:- Garmin running watch, ipod holder, ipod sports holder, ladies golf shoesskiing trousers (been skiing once), brand new bike seat in packet and bike lock (x 2!!!!!!!!!)
Some books I gathered from the kids. Loads more to put on but that's my lot for today! Due to the odd items, it is clear I have significant spending issues!!! (1) I have been skiing once (2) been golfing about twice (3) and there is nothing wrong with my bike seat and I never take it anywhere to lock it :rotfl:
Ooh and two DS games the kids never played with and still in wrapper.
I also popped into Oxfam and found a gorgeous brand new woollen jumper for my Gran's birthday for £4.99 :j
Bad news/confession..............I am going out with work on Saturday and it is fairly dressy. Don't have anything, had a look around Oxfam thinking I am better looking there then going to Next or somewhere else. Found a gorgeous dress from Monsoon for £4.99 that was perfect :j get it home and it doesn't fit . Then looked in my cupboard and found a perfectly reasonable outfit so I have wasted £4.99 ..............and that is my confession.
Not sure whether I can take it back and say it doesn't fit or if I should just put it on ebay, where I might get more for it
So that's me for today.........1st debt - Next [STRIKE]£583.32[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£408.71 [/STRIKE] £0 :j

£4.99 for a Monsoon dress?! Thats bl00dy brilliant! If it doesn't fit, get the tags back on and get it on eBay with the other stuff
I have got a couple of things to get on there, my motivation is sadly lacking at the moment though.....

Bet you make more than £4.99 on it! But if it doesn't sell, they will def take it back and refund your money, or at least my local one does, must be national policy surely?
When it comes to going out, that's a major major MAJOR money weakness for me, as I've never got over being 17. So love the whole process, planning what am going to wear, trying on, buying, doing hair, make up etc. So have evolved a bit of a strategy over the past year. For a start, all friends know I'm "doing thrift" (because it's fashionable, don'cha know, not 'cos I need to...), so personally get quite a thrill out of showing them new things have done with stuff already have...Also, as have already said, hair is big weakness for me, but at £7 (I generally go to my hairdresser who works from home in her garage, converted to a salon!) a pro-blow is cheaper than a new outfit - and make sure my nails and feet are done (by me, of course, these days) and generally, the air I try to give is like Ines de la Fresange - insouciant elegance..."Oh, this old thing? I know I always have a good time when I'm wearing it, it has such happy memories, I thought I'd wear it again...." etc.
Anyway, just contributing that, in case it helps....

:hello: Mrs R, just posted on your thread
Well, I've put it on at the price I paid for it and if it doesn't sell I'll take it back for a refund and all will be well with the world again. Still stressing about what to wear, hopefully it won't rain and I can stick to plan. Know we will probably spend more than we plan to so another incentive to get stuff on ebay.
I look like I have serious hobby issues, in that I pick up a hobby and then move on to something else! I have listed:- Golf Shoes, Skiing trousers, golf glove, bike saddle and lock and a running watch :rotfl::rotfl:
Been quite productive today, just bought some dog chews as I am sick of them arguing over them so bought tons and just threw them around the house! Then got defluffed and now OH doesn't think he's sleeping with a man
Been asked to go out for a meal with some very close, dear friends who I don't get to see very often. For the first time in my life I said "No, I can't afford it"They offered to pay for me as we haven't seen each other for a while. I said no as I would hate to feel I was taking charity and they have suggested I drive them and they will pay, still not sure. DH says go and take money as he knows how much I want to see them (have a very sad connection with them, too long to explain here) and told me to take some money out of the bank, but if I cave in on this temptation to go out, I'm hardly strong willed am I?
Decisions, decisions......

Quick update from me.......
Ebay things up to about £20 :j which is about £20 I didn't have before and 2 days to go so here's hoping!
Went shopping and bought nothing :j Went out for lunch with work and boss paid for it :j Boss has also contributed funds to tomorrow's outings which reduces my costs significantly! :j
Can now justify going out with lovely lovely friend tonightas money already set aside for tomorrow is no longer needed.
Had an horrendous nightmare about money last night, that DH was sat there with all our bank/credit card statements and mortgage statement staring at it all and crying and so we went to see a financial advisor who sat there with her nipples out :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:I was most distressed and woke up in a big of a state.
