Incapacity Benefit Wrongly Stopped - Failed Medical

Surely that is illegal
No.
Perfectly legal to record them without their knowlegde.
Or did you mean its illegal for the medical center to not allow you to record with your own dictaphone?
That one could probably be challenged in the high courts/european court of human rights, if anyone had enough money to do so, but as no one does who is in a position to need to, they get away with their rules...[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.
[/greenhighlight][redtitle]
The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that[/redtitle](house of lords debate, talking about Cameron)0 -

And quite a few claimants will have been made ill due to the workplace.
Work is not always good for your health, in fact one of the descriptors in the IB points scoring system is about wether work made you ill in the first place.....[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

Why do you always spout this same rubbish whenever someone asks about claiming benefits due to depression?
Whilst work may be a positive step for many, the OP has clearly stated that they are not well enough to work.
Even dressed up with a hth at the end, your post is clearly intended to be having a dig at the OP. That is pretty low when aimed at someone who appears to be quite poorly.
Perhaps you should keep your opinions on mental health to yourself?
OP, ignore welshmoneylover, he has his own 'issues', mainly against those with MH problems.
Just ignore this fool welshmoneylover... :rotfl::cool::rolleyes:
And that was a very good suggestion.
Since at the end of the day no matter how you dress it up, how seriously it may affect you, the effects that it may have on your life,
depression is DEPRESSION.
Theres not 1 type of just casual and 'improper', and then 2nd type thats the ''real depression''.
Theres only 1 single core thing thats depression, it may get to more serious stages for some people that it then causes other pyschological conditions and feelings inside your mind, but its still just different stages along the same road.
Everyone feels depressed.
When you constantly sad and scared and in fear everyday of your life your mind is in a constant state of depression,
but who cares?!
The world doesnt pause and wait, the bills and expenses dont halt,
you can feel as sad and miserable and messedup in your head all day but you still have to just get on with life and earn to support yourself, no matter how you feel inside.
And so as the poster said instead of moping around inside all day if you just did what everyone else has to do and went and got a job you would PHYSICALLY be able to do it.
(you may still feel the same way inside your mind, but thats life, you ust have to get on with it no matter what)0 -
I suffer from aniety and depression but dont claim anythnig for it as I couldnt even go thru with my doctors appointment. I got to outside the doctors and panicked and went home.
I understand the point someone made about been out of work making it all worse. If I was in work eventually I might be happier and not be so anxious about everythnig but its the first days/weeks or however long it would take for that to happen that I cant handle. At best I can make it to an interview and possibly even take a job if offered but after a few days its too much.
its hard to expalin exactly but part of it is that I feel I'm exposed to a load of people I don't know and every little thnig i do wrong is seem by everyone which then makes me make a mistake because i'm worrying so much about what can go wrong and it just gets worse the more it goes on and I'm a wreck by the time i get home.
Why dont you just PHYSICALLY force yourself into the places/have yourself forced there instead though??
(You may hate it pyschologically and the way you mind will be feeling and thoughts in it wont be pleasant at all)
But when the element of choice is taken away from the equations then the action will go ahead,
which wouldnt have if the element of choice had been there.
(Im not having a dig at you btw or just spouting nonsense, i personally suffered from severe body-dysmorphic-disorder, so i do understand what its like)0 -

I understand what you're going through, I've had 2 incapacity benefit medicals, twice failed, twiced overturned on appeal. I hate their so called professionals with a passion.
The 1st medical I had lasted approximately 4 minutes! The 2nd lasted about an hour and she even said to me "why don't you just get a job?"
Don't worry though, you will more than likely (99%) get the decision overturned quite easily. They have a maximum number of people they can approve during the medicals, therefore it's easy for them to write off the people that don't have any physical symptoms.
Good Luck!0 -

FYI there are many different types of depression
-Major depressive disorder (also known as clinical depression or major depression), a specific diagnosis from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders by the American Psychiatric Association
-Major depressive episode
-Atypical depression, a cyclical sub-type of major depression where sleep, feeding and perception of pleasure are normal but there is a feeling of lethargy
-Melancholic depression, a sub-type of major depression characterized by an inability to feel pleasure combined with physical agitation, insomnia, or decreased appetite
-Psychotic depression, a sub-type of major depression combined with psychotic or delusional perceptions
-Postpartum depression, a depressive episode occurring within a year of childbirth
-Dysthymia, a long-term low-grade depressive condition
-Adjustment disorder with depressed mood, previously known as "reactive depression"
-Seasonal affective disorder (SAD), a depressed mood related to the season
These all vary in severity.
I think you might need to read up on depression before you come out with any more of your abuseThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I have read this thread with interest. I have suffered with anxiety, depression and panic attacks for the past 13 years, at my worst I could not leave my bedroom....for 3 months. I am still on antidepressants now and each and every day is a challenge just to get out of the door.
I believe that nothing is made better by staying at home indefinately and that making yourself do things is so powerful in the recovery process. In the past I have claimed IB though not for long as it didnt take long to realise that I was just festering at home. I took little cleaning jobs, really flexible hours for people who would not be at home when I was there. Yes I was financially worse off and got more in debt every day but my health was more important. Gradually doing this gave me my sense of self worth back and I went on to other things. To cut a 13 yr story short, I actually now work for the DWP dealing with IB queries via the telephone. I can see both sides and ALWAYS give truthful information to customers such as what they can claim while asking for a recon or appealing etc. There are some of us in the system who DO want to help. xxDebt free = December 2010...as of March 2006 it is now January 2010..... as of December 2008 it is now December 2009 :j hopefully sooner!!:jDEBT FREE:j January 2012, took longer but I got there, all by myself, through sheer hard work and pride!0 -
