  • Well I repeat good luck but make sure you don't want any more credit from anybody for a long time.

I will say no more on this.
  • if shop direct have made an error, ie they cant prove i owe the money, then that should have no impact on my credit rating. i appreciate it might, but if it does that is where i shall pursue legal action. if they hadn't been so incompetent and incorrect then the whole issue would never have arisen

Mike - trust me mate, this is not worth it. Even if you have a case, they will leave your credit score in absolute tatters. You will then have to pay hefty legal fees to clear it and it will simply not be worth it.

What is the total amount of the goods/amount on your statement?

The mere fact that you wanted to buy now, pay later leads me to think you never really could afford the goods in the first place. If you could have, you would have bought them straight out.

Your best bet is to get the amount on a 0% credit card and walk away - trust me.

Seem to have been able to afford a 5* hotel in the Maldives recently for their honeymoon though?
Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama ;)

Mike - just another question - when did you open your account with Shop Direct and when did you buy the goods. If it was after April 2007 then the unenforceability rule does not apply.
  • suesuesue, i suggest you tone down your views. i am certainly not scum and i have no problem at all paying for my goods, i want to pay for them on the buy now pay later as agreed, not be forced retrospectively to pay monthly with huge interest. i suggest you watch the way you speak to people, i do not sit in a council flat watching jeremy kyle. my aprtner is a teacher, i am a retail manager, combined income now in excess of 60k fyi, ability to pay is not a problem, my willingness to be forced by a company is though.
how the hell dare you make comments like the ones you have made?? i suggest an apology is in order.

cbrown, yes, we have just got bak from the maldives, got back last saturday on flight tom189 into manchester, was an amazing holiday that we will repeat. also just booked to go to marsa alam in egypt.

i can't believe how me asking a genuine quesiton for genuine help has reulted in my getting a barrage of abuse. thanks to those who have offered help though. i will be fighting shop direct, simply because morally i feel they are so wrong. i have no problem in repaying what i bought, i just want to repay it in the manner that it was agreed when i ordered.

one more piece of info, i have just found a buy now pay later agreement for one of the purchases, i conacted littlewoods who have said that they won't honour it as we were not eligible. it is a proper full agreement, not a proposal etc. i am not prepared to be walked over by them. once again, people like suesuesue, who the hell do you think you are talking to me like that? you may not be in a council flat etc, but you come across as rude, arrogant, and a few more things i do not wish to say

Just pay it - shop direct would of sent you a letter that you did not get accepted on BNPL. Just because you put it through as BNPL does not mean it is.

They offer interest only payments I believe? tbh I cannot wait to get rid of my account with them!

I repeat, get yourself over to the Consumeractiongroup website - you might have to search a little for the right (sub)forum/threads from people with similar problems, but the folk over there want to help consumers stand up for themselves, and empower them to know their rights. Much healthier than spending time and energy responding to the 'holier than thou' brigade on here, who thoroughly discredit themselves by being abusive to you. You don't need that.
  • cheers asparagus i will take a look. what i am surprised about is the number of people who say just give up and pay up, so glad that so many great people didnt have that attitude in 1914 and 1939.

sop direct group did confirm i ordered the items onbuy now paylater, i still have the original signed (bythem) agreement for one of them, but they are refusing to honour it.

what horrifeis me is that i am fighting them and am fairly savvy about what to say etc, what i i was an elderly or vulnerable person though? i would be terrified by their threats and charges, i can see why so many people who have done nothing or little wrong end up so scared of dealing with money
  • suesuesue- do you work for shop direct?

it is a credit agreement. a signed credit agreement. just like the one from my car.

any apology for your earlier rant and abuse?
