i bought several items on buy now pay later from shop direct group, littlewoods, kays etc. they are syaing i dind.t buy themon buy now pay later and demanding monthly payment at 26% apr. they have stated they will no longer deal with my complaints as they are adamant they are right, and have told trading standards this.
i have written to one of them, littlewoods, to ask for a copy of my crdit agreement to prove i agreed to pay monthly. they won't be able to supply me with one as i would never have agreed to a monthly payment. i also beng cynical changed my signature in the letter i sent them, so if they forge it i will know. am i correct in thinking this could make the debt unenforcable? i am not disputing i received the goods, but i definitely ordered on buy now pay later.

You should have copies yourself of any agreements. they would have been given to you at the time of the sale.
You should never change your signature. This could cause problems for you later legally. Always just print your signature.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

why will it cause legal difficulties if you change your signiture... I do it all the time0 -
If you sign something in the future which requires checking with an earlieg signature it could cause problems.
I cant imagine why anyone would want to change their signature (significantly)
I got the impression that the OP did thismake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

But the sensible answer to that, which has been said countless times on this forum is to print your name.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

hi. i didnt significantly change my signatured just added an undeline and a loop to one letter. i did it purely so that if they produce an agreement with this signature then i know it is forged, as i have never before changed it. they never sent me a credit agreement, i ordered the goods online and paid for it using a code for buy now pay later. they never sent any credit agreements. i am not disputing that i should pay for the products, infact i intend to, but they are showing signs of gross incompetence by their denyin it wa sbuy now pay later, and are harassing me with 5 phonecalls per day, and multiple letters. please remember i haven't ignored them, i have spoken to them quite openly and they are just refusing to budge. therefore if the agremment is deemed unenforcable, i won;t pay, not out of greed but to teach them a lesson. if i was less aware and vulnerable they could easily be maing the 26% apr out of me when this isn't what i signed up to, which i believe is very unfair. any more advice about where i stand agreement wise would be appreciated0

Can you prove that the sales took place under buy now pay later?
Was it a phone order or online?
Can you not return some of the goods to reduce the debt and go elsewhere?0 -
no i can't prove it was buy now pay later, but they will not have anything to prove i even ordered the goods on finance. they may whave delivery signatures but these would be unrelated to any finance agreements. some of the orders were online some were phone.
cheaper elsewhere not really an option as the goods are built and in use, although i have shopped around and unusualy shop direct are about right price wise.0 -
In that case pay off the amount as soon as possible to reduce the interest costs. This is your only real option.0
-
why would you advise that? as i didnt sign any agreement surely they have no proof that would be valid in court?0
