    Happy Birthday Rosyred :bdaycake:

Welcome to our new posters :hello:

tiredmum - So sorry to hear about OH's car, don't really know what to say except that I'm  and :wall:on your behalf.

Shez - :hello: lovely to see you

Tru - And you! Glad things seem to be going well after all your struggles :j

Penny Penguin - Crackling is lovely! What breed is she? I know you told us once, but i can't remember.

Well done to all the young people who've had their results today

Energy levels are rather low today so haven't done a lot :o, but did wash some towels and the carpet runner from the hall (but one of the marks on it hasn't really come off - I don't know what it was), and dinner is HM JO beef stew from the freezer so at least that's a bit OS :p The runner is still on the line - just hope it's going to be dry by the time I have to bring it in.

DH bought a digital photo frame yesterday, I'd never seen the point of them as I'd thought they had to be plugged in to a computer, but he put in the memory card from the camera and I was able to get a proper look at the pics he took when we took DD2 and DGS to the steam railway at Tenterden. DGS was only 13 months old. When the train drew into the station (we were on the platform) he kicked his feet excitedly and one of his shoes went under the train  Luckily they managed to retrieve it!

We went down the town today to pick up some travel-size bits for DS, who's off to Dublin for the weekend with hand-luggage only and won't have time to get them himself. Boots didn't have a lot, but got him a mini deodorant and a pack of little bottles into which he can decant shower gel and shampoo. Found a 20 ml tube of toothpaste in local chemist. What a performance it all is  but at least the bottles can be re-used.

Went into WHS too and had a look at the Economy Gastronomy book, but decided I probably already had similar recipes in other books :A and some pages were printed in white on a grey background, which I find hard to read - i wish they wouldnt do that!

Hope everyone has a good evening and that the poorlies feel better ASAP.

Asda & Tesco usually have quite a good selection of small travel-size things, if that helps.

  • Good evening all. I hope your day has been a good one. Haven't done much all day here. DH was off today so just hung around the house and took Bree pup to the park for a good romp and play.

I had gotten 2 turkey legs YS for 70p each last week and froze them. I defrosted one and roasted it last night while baking some cakes. I pulled the meat off today and tossed it in some of the Sainsburys basic curry sauce. Threw a roughly chopped onion, some peppers and mushrooms in with it and served over rice. DH enjoyed it and so did I. I used a chicken and vegetable stock cube in the water for the rice so it had a lovely flavour on its own.

I have the dishes from dinner to wash up yet. Just lazy tonight and didn't feel like doing them right afterward. They'll only take a couple of minutes to do. Then I'll iron DH's work shirts and I think that will be it for chores today.

Planning on a nice hot shower and early bedtime tonight.

Well done to all those receiving GCSE's today!!!

Gentle hugs to all in need/want.

    Peyton xx

Tired mum - sorry about the car, thats awful.
Molly - Good luck for Squeak!
    Rosyred - Happy Birthday
Noahspenniless mum - can see why you're panicking a bit as that seems to have come out the blue. Fingers crossed that everything is ok.
Fairyelephant - glad your risk of downs has been decreased, that must be reassuring.

Well done on exam results to any proud parents on here!

Had a lovely 2 day break in Birmingham! Queues for Sea Life Centre were horrendous, but after waiting 20 minutes someone came round and said annual pass holders could go straight in. Felt a bit guilty walking to the front of the queue (but not that guilty! :p). Was very very busy, but we went round once, the kids then played for 2 hours in the play park, and by the time we went round again it was the end of the day and really quiet.

Loads of places to eat, there was Wetherspoons next door but one to the travelodge, and all kinds of other places. Ended up at pizza express as I thought we would, as had tesco deals to use.

Today was Cadbury's World, which we all really enjoyed. Kids appreciated the free chocolate, but the favourite bit for all of us was having the warm melted chocolate which you get to choose sweetie things to dip in. Yum! Also some fun interactive stuff near the end of the tour. Kids had another 2 hour play in this playpark, luckily I had taken a book, and it was nice and warm outside!

Anyway, a fun break had by all. Next week we are off to Butlins, so am going to be washing, packing, and stocking up with drinks and things like cereal bars to take with us to save money.

Happy birthday Rosyred, glad to hear that you have enjoyed it.

Not done very much to-day as I didn't feel very well this morning, up at 8 but didn't feel better by 10 so went back to bed and slept until almost 1! Made nice beef stew for dinner and then tried some French bread in my Fastbake....very pleased with it so far, am making a different bread type every time I use it until we decide which we like best.

DD4, DGS2 and DGD1 back from Cork this afternoon, they had a nice few days....DD2's partner comes to-morrow and the family head back to London on Monday...DD2 and girls have been here since mid July so will miss them when they go, the house will be very quiet, DD4 off to staff meeting in morning and then she and DGS2 are off to school on Monday.

Hugs to all who are in need or want, congratulations to all who are celebrating, especially those who got exam results to-day, welcome to all newbies.

    Sleep well all

    Hi guys,

It's been a busy week. Still glossing in the kitchen but I am nearly there, it is easier to do it at night when the kids are in bed ;). The fence is up at the back and so the next job will be to get back out there and finish the painting. There is a few odds and sods left to do out there after the painting but that shouldn't take too long.

Thanks DG for the tips on the sealant. Just got the area around the sink left to do and it has been easier than I imagined due to your advice.

I cleaned out the fryer yesterday and couldn't get it to come on again, moved it while it was plugged in and got an electric shock - scary or what, thank goodness it wasn't too bad. So that's in the bin and another on order from Argos.

I have spring cleaned through the house in between the glossing and waded through 4 (yes 4 :eek:) week's worth of ironing. I have a pile of sewing which needs doing this weekend and at some point get up to date with my pennies book. When all of the above is done I am officially taking a couple of months off to do a jigzaw and read a book or two. I also want to get going with a tapestry that was abandoned when things started going pear shaped.

    Belated happy birthday Rosyred. xxx

Big hugs to anyone in need and welcome to new posters.

Pen-pin, I hope you are feeling better hun. Thinking of you. xxx

    Smoky. xxxx
