'Well, thats one hell of an attitide to have. Under that I could go out & rob a bank, or kill someone, but its ok, because 'blame doesn't help anyone does it'?'

My point was 'blame' will not change a situation. If someone kills someone, then nothing can bring them back and same with this.

Advice and support on this site is hopefully to help people move forwards with their lives.

'What a banial, ridiculous attitude & frankly typical of 99% of the population of this country.'

As for this offensive and cold attitude, it makes me smile inside that i am not filled with hate and anger like you and happy that so many people (more than 1% i am sure) do have the 'ridiculous attitude' i have and are here to offer support.

'But I do object to constantly being surrounded by idiots in trouble of their own making, complaining about it & expecting others to get them out of it.'

Constantly surrounded??? Which site are you on? This is for people with debt or those needing support!!!! What exactly are you here for? To fill your empty day?

Leave this site alone and take your judgmental comments elsewhere (maybe Judge Judy is more your style)

    Peace.

    From the original poster on first page;
"I accept full responsibility for my stupid spending (although some of it has been essential). I just wish banks and card companies would accept that they have responsibilites too. Upping my limit to £25,000?? Crazy for me to accept, even crazier for them to offer."

Does that actually sound like someone taking responsibity for their actions???? If someone gave her a gun, would she blow her head off too???? jus because its there, does mean you have to use it!!!

Stupidspender/Vegaskitty - seriously, you've had your say, fine, you think people need to own up/take responsibility/people are stupid for getting in debt. Thank you so much for your opinions. Now, as I think many many people have already said - that is not what this thread is about!!!! This thread is about offering the OP the much-needed support to get herself out of this situation. IF you have read the thread (I have to admit, I got to page 10 and had to stop as I'm at work!) you will see that they HAVE stopped spending - they are too scared to buy a can of coke. They are trying to remedy the situation they KNOW they have made for themselves. In the original post HH acknowledges that they were silly to accept the parents offer of a rent-free house and that the £140k debt is a result of both having two mortgages to pay AND from buying unneccessary things. Now what matters is ensuring that nobody gets hurt because of this situation, no matter whose fault it is.

HH - I can only offer you big hugs and a massive amount of support... my advice (for what it's worth ;) ) is that selling the flat you live in adn going for renting or downsizing is a good option that would at least mean you can get the odd can of coke! Good luck with everything, and please please do not let this get anymore on top of you than it already is x

there but for the grace of god, go all of us.

You never know, one of these days you may find yourself drowning in a situation part of your own making, part not. In those dark days dont bother to ask for advice, help or even express your situation, lest some bitter poster say "i told you so, serves you right"

Again, why are you attacking an OP who is not here and hasnt been for some days. You really must have nothing better to do.

One minute nocaskate is "smiling inside that I am not filled with hate and anger" the next breath she/he is demanding someone leave the thread and site?
Maybe you should have said that "I am smiling inside that I am filled with utter intolerance for anyone else legitimate opinions that differ from my own"

sorry to everybody on this thread, I will of course immediately change my thinking & submitt to your opinion (clearly the only opinion allowed on this forum)

go ahead love, spend away! thats right, if it makes you feel better, you've earned it after all, don't worry, if you bury your head in the sand long enough I'm sure it will all go away. here, spend some more why don't you, it makes you feel better. don't worry about the sleepless nights, the stress, the destroyed relationships, you carry on spending love, it will all come right in the end, it always does & absolutely nobody ever got anything from saving and being told they were wrong. its not your fault, its everyone elses.

    Is that better?

Life is all about accepting your responsibilities & the choices you make. I don't think anyone has the right to complain about choices they personally make. No one, no one made her spend all that money.

Im sorry but in weeks of being here I have NEVER seen this sort of opinion posted by ANYONE on this part of the site. "go ahead love, spend away! thats right, if it makes you feel better, you've earned it after all, don't worry, if you bury your head in the sand long enough I'm sure it will all go away. here, spend some more why don't you, it makes you feel better. don't worry about the sleepless nights, the stress, the destroyed relationships, you carry on spending love, it will all come right in the end, it always does & absolutely nobody ever got anything from saving and being told they were wrong. its not your fault, its everyone elses."

You sound to me like someone who doesnt have a clue what they are on about.

Now back to the real point of this thread.

HH if you are out there just drop someone a line, on here or PM just to let us know you are ok.

I hope you are starting to take some positive action and are feeling better. I, like so many here, wish you all the best. You are in our thoughts.

Is it possible the you could request they move into a cheaper property? If you can't afford the repayments then surely they can't dictate how much the property is worth. Alternatively suggest they require warden monitored housing? At 70 it's feasible they would.
