    Vegaskitty,

If you do not have anything helpful or friendly to say, I suggest you leave the thread.

Your offensive and aggressive attitude is not welcome here.

This forum is about helpful support and advice, not criticism and sharp words.
  • I don’t agree dinky, this is a debt forum not a shoulder to cry on.
I really think that some honest home truths may help in the long run.
It would seem if someone like Kitty would have said this to Her years ago just maybe.......................................

I'm not cold hearted, not at all. But I do object to constantly being surrounded by idiots in trouble of their own making, complaining about it & expecting others to get them out of it.

Are you in the right place Vegaskitty? After all the DFW board is a place full of us as you put it idiots who have got themselves in trouble for what ever reasons, and come here to try and find a solution and hopefully support. If that is what you call complaining then so be it. Why exactly are you here on the DFW board? Are you in debt? If not maybe you would feel more comfortable on a different thread. If you are then what gives you the right to judge others, debt is debt.

Over 70% of the debt in my sig is a result of me overspending when times were good. The rest is when disaster struck I made bad decisions and didn't manage the debt well (got bad advice from the bank). But, I accept responsibility for all of it. Things happened that were beyond my control but the fact is if I hadn't overspent I wouldn't have any debt at all.

So I can see where vegaskitty is coming from.
  • QueenB you seem to be equally as judging on this matter? indeed lets get the hanging party out ready for Petes mum!
I am looking forward to the day when people taking responsibility for their own actions returns as a personal quality in this country.
I personally don’t subscribe to the blame someone else routine as a attractive trait in a person.
P.S congratulations on the weight loss all hours ;-)

The lack of compassion demonstrated in some for the most recent posts is incredible! Suggest you go & read the purpose of this part of the site - support. Heavy heart has got enough problems (as have most of us on here)already without you putting the boot in. If you are fortunate enough to have learned financial savvy the easy way then good for you.
Those of us who post here are genuinely in deep sh*t and really dont need people telling us what we know already. Flog us if you will, slag us of all you like but until you've been here you have absolutely no idea what its like but trust me the constant feeling of worry, feeling physically sick, having no money, having to sell anything I can etc are punishment enough for having (like billions of others) gone mad on my credit card without noticing how much it had got to.
If (as one comment) you don't like being surrounded by people in this situation why are you actually reading/posting unless you are so nasty & vindictive as individuals that you actually enjoy kicking people when they are down?

  • Fishface so lets me understand you, you want advice from people who are heavily in debt to help us clear all our debts.
Can you see a major flaw in that scenario?

no, my apologies 'queenb' it will make it all soooo much better for them if we all baby them & pretend like they did nothing to bring this whole thing on themselves. & that they are the victims, won't it??

that’s really what this person & all the others like her need isn’t it? Everyone else feeling sorry for them & giving them the deluded impression that its all right to spend like a banshee, without constraint or consideration for the consequences, as opposed to the infinitely more difficult route of taking responsibility for your own life & choices.

    Vegaskitty,

I think you are being overly harsh here. At the end of the day, OP came here to ask for advice, to get out of the situation.

Shouting someone down, who isnt here to defend themselves smacks of bullying to me, and its that bullying attitude that is neither helpful nor invited.

If you havent got anything nice to say....
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
