  • I think it should be a bit like THIS or THIS as I think those pates are all made with brewers yeast. I think nutritional yeast should do a similar job though.

Here is a lovely lentil pate recipe from Come Dine With Me. I've made it and it's very nice indeed :D

    Hi there

I've made a mushroom pate - just sort of made it up as I went along really. I blitzed mushrooms in the food processor with salt pepper and cream cheese. Then I put some extra mushrooms in at the end so that they didn't get completely chopped up and it gave it a different texture.

    It was yummy :D

Thanks twinkle, i've not come accross those 2 before. More recipes for me to try! Although the reviews for the aussie one was that it wasnt like tartex, they did say it was nice and thats all i'm bothered about.

There is also a yummy lentil pate on the site mentioned in post 3, that uses less ingredients and works out a lot lot cheaper if money is of concern and is also cholesterol free as there is no eggs in that one.

Can someone help me please? I want to make my own pate as I love it and it can end up costing me a small fortune!

I have 403g of chicken liver and 519g of pigs liver both bought for a few pence on clearance. The last lot of pate I made tasted disgusting, and I really don't want to mess this/these ones up. Could I make a big batch and combine both livers or would that taste weird? What quantities of other ingredients would I be needing?

    Thank you :o

  • I'm just working my way through this thread, we made chicken liver pate at the weekend, based on a Delia recipe and it's gorgeous, I have always bought pate and had no idea it was so simple to make.

I'm hoping the rest of this thread has some good recipes as there seemed to be some lovely pates in the supermarkets for Christmas!

Any further ideas and recipes would be gratefully received!

Hi there. I'm making a chicken liver pate, done all the cooking and now trying to blend it with my stick blender but I'm having trouble. There's no added liquid in the recipe just whatever juices are in the pan from cooking (although I did add a little hot water to rinse out the pan and capture all the juices).

    Should I add more liquid?

Edited to add: the problem is that it is not blending very well.
