On consensus recently users agreed that to control the nastiness and problems we needed to be more strict. We are doing so
Im afraid the "can you be more strict except when its a friend of mine" doesn't work. We can't - if people break the rules and abuse the forum then they will lose their priviledges to post.
As for explaining "why" the answer is because people broke the rules seriously in the view of the abuse team. Our legal advice is Im afraid to close the account down without explanation - and so that's whats done. I've explained this many times before... if we say "you made racist posts" we are potentially defaming someone - of course the likliehood is they were racist - but i dont particularly want to go to court to defend that. We don't need to justify so we don't
However most regular postered who are PPR'd know exactly what rules they break - and are consciously aware when they break them - as for having AEs, for being abusive, offensive, spamming.
We also find that people are rude to the abuse team. They are my employees and I have a duty to protect them - as such when people do that then write to me trying to appeal - Im afraid my stance is simple - if people are rude to my team I will not have them on my forum.
Im going to close this discussion. We take no pleasure in PPRing people, yet it has to be done.
