Fan-ruddy-tastic. Mine's gone up to £210.
Perhaps I should get TWO smaller cars to ferry myself, hubby and four children around in, just to save money on road tax? Would that seriously be better for the environment??
Thieving barstewards.

mchu6am4 wrote:Since we're on the question of car tax, I have a 1.3 CDTi Corsa on 04 plate and according to log book, the emissions are 122g/km (km is right i think).
However, any car slightly newer than mine, i.e. 05 or 55 plate, with the SAME engine and spec but the emissions are quoted as 119g/km which is just inside the upto 120g/km tax band.
That means, the newer car tax is £50 for year where as its £110 on mine!!!!!
Is there anything I can do?
Ash
mchu6am4, you can do exactly what I did (but a month later - you've missed your May refund now as you won't be able to do anything before the beginning of May.
If you look in one of my earlier posts, you'll see exactly what I did. Note that when you take out your new tax, you will have to pay the £50, whereas the refund on the balance of your £110 for the months remaining will come through the post in a few weeks.

Surely the point is that their older car doesn't fit into the new £50 tax band, they've missed out by 2g/kmThanks to all who post constructively.

Yes, you can't do anything - the CO2 figure is determined by what's on your V5, not what it says anywhere else.
Incidentally, the figures in the manufacturer's brochure are not absolutes as it will vary depending on the extras you have on the car as extra weight = greater CO2.0 -
Whoops, sorry!

thanksDon’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.0 -
