My dad used to put his green toms into a brown paper bag with one that was turning red, and put the bag into a kitchen drawer....seemed to work, as I can remember my mum moaning one year about the lack of green toms for chutney!
I guess thats the other option....green tomato chutney?
My dad
when i was a kid use to rap all the green ones up in news paper and then put them in a box in the back of there wardrobe.
That seemd to ripen them up over the weeks.
Never had green chutney is it any good?:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
Hello Everyone,
I have just caught up with yesterday's thread. I didn't get on as i had a GP appointment which went well and she was pleased that my doctors are treating me aggressively now. All the months of hassling have been worth it!! I then spent a lot of the day putting my study books on Amazon - all 189 of them:eek:. My children ferried them out of the "library" aka the dining room whilst I put them on Amazon. Really easy to do. I have sold 10 already so have to get them in the post. Only down is there is a standard charge for postage and some are very heavy and Amazon charge a lot of commisssion so eating into my profits:(
Im off to MK with my kids as have hired a mobility scooter and its so easy to get around. I have promised them some stationary bits as they really have been really good this holiday and helped out a lot. We also have not been on hols as i been too unwell and they haven't moaned. Well...my daughter has but she a miserable old thing anyway. Bless!!!!!
Hope everyone has a peaceful day,

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

My mum has the same variety of toms and she tried the brown bag trick - must find out if it worked. She never said and I saw them sitting on her porch window sill so I suspect not.
Will go and have a google.
Well done Halight on volunteering. Hope someone take you up on your offerI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Morning Everyone
Wow Molly - that is a lot of studying!
Sunshine here at the moment, DS has camped out in the garden with his friend for the last 2 nights but dont think he will be able to tonight.
Bit of everything today, office this morning, ironing needs doing. Think DS is off to the pictures with his mate, I may take DD into town to get her pencil case & bits for school - she loses them regularly.
Not sure what is for tea, could be chilli or omelettes. Tesco shop came yesterday, went to Makro's so fully stocked on toilet roll for a while. Our local shop has a bogof offer on my favourtie choca mocha coffee so am stocking up on that too. Also started getting packed lunch stuff in for next week.
Off now for another coffee - have a great day.x0 -
Morning everyone!!

Hester - Well done hon, you definately did the right thing.
PenPin - Hope you're starting to feel a bit better
FairyE - Hope you managed to have your weekend away. Am thinking of you.
Happy belated Anniversary to the ravylesleys!
reverbe - I tried to message you to offer to help but your box is full so I am guessing you have enough volenteers now!
Well the showers on Saturday didn't make much difference - it has been warm and sunny ever since so yesterday I went out and just sat and read my book for half an hour. It was lovely and I deliberately avoided looking at how much weeding was needed! Today looks to be much the same.
Tonight I think something with mince in it... not sure what yet but it's always a good fall back meal for us having frozen mince in the freezer! We were hoping to tidy and sort things in the computer room last weekend, but the time just seemed to run away with us. So right now it's still full of junk behind me and OH has nowhere to set up his laptop. This means he has to keep sighing and talking about being 'homeless'..
I was just posting on a gardening forum I belong to. It's relatively new so I am one of only a few posters so far :rotfl:but I was coincidently talking about helping green tomatoes ripen by either hanging banana skins in the greenhouse or just placing one in the container or on the plants still in the growbag. Otherwise, last year, we just picked them and put them in a bowl on the window sill and they ripened there.
Otherwise this is a tried and tested recipe HERE for green tomato chutney!
Thought I would share a pic of my latest bunch of flowers from the garden - not arranged yet - more 'plonked' there by my OH! There are lilies, dahlias and a mini sunflower.
Hope you all have a great day -to those who need them.

Good morning all. Not too bad of a morning here. The sun is trying to break through the clouds now so we'll see what happens. I'm hoping the rain holds off as I have the 3 doggy grandkidlets here along with our pup. I take them to the huge park around the corner for play and running.
Today's plans are to start cleaning out things in our bedroom. Most of dh's stuff is straight in there, however my wardrobe seems to have been the catch all for a lot of things. Who knows what I'll find. I'm sure I'll have plenty of help nosing it out with the 4 doggies helping me. :rotfl: I need to put a load on to wash in a few mins also.
Our daughters spent last night with us and we did a simple tea of sausages, mash, peas, pickled beetroot and of course, onion gravy. Bless them, they did the dishes and clean up from dinner.
Tea tonight will be freezer surprise. I know I have some meatloaf etc in there so will rustle up something. Also need to figure out if the girls are staying for tea or heading home before then.
I may try to get into the garden a bit today. It looks rather sad and neglected at the moment. The grass has been cut however it needs weeding and a good general tidy up. I'm sure the pups will "help" me with that also.
(((((((((((((Gentle Hugs))))))))))))))))) to all who want/need some. I hope you all have a day that brings peace and fulfillment.

Morning all, Reporting on location
Its raining again , does it always rain in Taunton ??? today we are off to cheddar gorge, hopefully it will brighten up later. Yesterday we had a walk around the local village, and found the most beautiful deli, we had just eaten but will go back there for a steak and stilton pie at some time this week
We also went to a huge local reservior for a walk round, it was stunning and scary, hundreds of feet up , but it was beautiful and well worth a walk round.
It has been very chilly here in the evenings, we bought some logs and kindling, and have been having a fire each night.
Marie, any news on Thunder yet ??
Sunny, glad the arm is going down xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Bitsy - put them in a bag or fruit bowl with a banana, that might help
Molly  well done! that's a crazy amount of books! I have been trying to ebay a few bits, I have listed three DVD box sets so far - one was posted yesteday, the others finish next week. I have a few CD's to go as wellIt's easier than I remember to use, and the added advantage of no listing fees at the moment. I don't like the enforced no postage for media though - the box set OH posted yesterday had to go parcelforce because it weighed over two kilos and cost 10.99 to send. I had to list it in the sci-fi collectables section rather than DVDs.
These are my earringssorry the photo is a bit fuzzy, I've not got the hang of close shots yet and these things are so tiny

Morning all:j
Funny how you notice Autumn all of a sudden. I always have my first coffee of the day in the garden (except in the dead of Winter:rotfl:). This morning was the first morning I had to take a fleece out with me to put over my knees:eek: I just love Autumn. Winter can be dreary, you're never sure whether Spring has been or not and Summer seems to be a washout these days. But Autumn.....you know where you are with Autumn!
I've got some very bad news for you all this morning - I'M OFF TO LAKELAND IN IPSWICH:eek: I will try not to spend too much except on things that will make OS easier - does the jam maker count?:o
Will try and pop into school tomorrow to get my classroom in some sort of order. Kids don't come back til next Thursday but best to get ahead.
Still no news on a moving date - bet it's next Thursday:rotfl:
Have a good day
Lilli
P.S. Halight - well done on volunteering. Hope Headway come back with good news.
