OS Daily Tuesday 25th August

Sunnyday

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 25th August! It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good
Morning peeps
up bright and early and am sat nursing my third cuppa, i decided not to put the washing machine on this morning as there`s not quite the full load that i expected. The basket seems to fill up all of a sudden and then i have lots to do at once.
There is a definite nip in the air this morning, you would hardly believe that it was August, autumn seems to have arrived early!
I do love the autumn though when all the leaves are turning red and brown and the mornings are quite refreshing, the downside is that we don`t seem to have had much of a summer so heres hoping that we still have some nice weather to come.
DH will be texted shortly to ask if he can unload the dishwasher and the breadmaker which should almost be finished and when i get home i shall S&S the bathroom and run around with the dyson before starting to make tea. Buttered cod and chard for me as i`m still low carbing and paella for DH so nice and easy.
Thanks so much to everyone asking about my arm yesterday, it is quite a bit better this morning - still swollen but not as sore and i can bend it once again so some of the swelling has gone down in the night. Can`t wait for it to be properly better though.
MeanMarie - Any sign of Thunder?
Celyn - Your jam looked lovely yesterday, i love to see it all lined up on the work surface when it`s finished - very satisfying.
I`m off for a quick browse, i shall pop back later to see how you are all doing, Have a lovely day folks.

Morning sunnyday and all who follow.
It is like an autumn morning here too
In work already, lots of paperwork to do this morning
Yesterdays dinner was quorn bologenese (quorn mince is on offer in Iceland at the moment and I prefer it to meat as it has a better texture. OH didn't notice) Today will be caliuflower cheese and jacket spuds. Still eating plum cake for dessert
I made some picture frames yesterday and converted some of the cupcake charms in to earrings.
have a good day all, cel x:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
Morning all!! First time for posting on here. Sorry to hear about your arm SD - have you tried arnica to bring out the bruising?
Today (after the childrens awful behaviour yesterday) we're having an OS day. They will be playing in the garden and colouring - anything to run down their energy. Then dinner will come out of the freezer and I'll have a bit of peace and quiet!!
I have a job interview today - fingers crossed! And I've heard that we're all in for a bit of nasty weather tomorrow - anyone confirm this??
Off to have another coffee! Have a great dayMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Morning.
Yep. Tail end of some huricaine or other will soak most of us on Wednesday.
Wet start here, although it should dry up. Fairly sunny all day yesterday and I managed to lift my onions for drying, dig out the potatoes that got blighted and pick some grapes.
Things are coming to a rapid end in the garden. The wet weather has ruined some crops and helped others. Tasty sweetcorn will be ready next week:D.
Going to be filmed by Ch5 today as part of the ongoing tortoise investigation. Getting a bit old now... time to move on perhaps?
Well, have a good day...... CheersNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Morning everyone
Sorry to be MIA for the last couple of days, and not registering when some of you were missing, but to use an odd phrase the head has been a shed:rolleyes:, just shows how out of practice you get, as this shuold be a doddle compared to when I worked!. Organising the 5 day rally and the birthday bash have been a little manic, however, I did get the cakes made yesterday, not happy with the sponge, but the fruit cake turned out fine, will get some instant icing and decorations while in town today, may look for a bought sponge and then put some butter icing over it:o. Nothing in the 'van yet and we leave here at tea time, than heaven only about 8 mile away so can pop back if I need to, which may well be essential as I do not think I can get everything in the a caravan size fridge:o. Prayers please for dry and not too windy weather on Thursday and Saturday.
Hairdressers, town, pack and go:eek:
Belated greetings to those celebrating, catch you after the BH, have a good one all.

Morning all.
N9eav - hope you're ready for your close up
Meanmarie - really hope Thunder has turned up by now x
Not much happening here today. H is off with the car as he has a leaving meal to attend to tonight. So if I go anywhere I either have to borrow my mums car or walk. Have to get some more milk so might walk to the supermarket. Only problem is walking back with 6 cartons of UHT milk!!!! It just makes the pushchair so heavy.
We've decided that we want DS to have a little uniform for nursery, they do polo shirts and sweatshirts with school logo on. Only problem is price, sweatshirt is from £9.99 which is a bit steep. Might stretch to 2 tops one to wash the other to wear. He also needs some black pumps too. Expensive lark this school business and I suspect it will only get worse
My toms are STILL green. they've been a real disappointment this year. There are absolutely loads of them and they are just not ripening. Down to the poor summer again perhaps? Broccoli and caulis look as though they are winding down but my courgettes are still going strong
Dry and bright here at the mo so I hope it holds. Don't like the sound of a tail end of a hurricane here. My freakish wind yesterday was enough  Feels like autumn is definately on it's way. No chance of an indian summer then
You lot are giving me the urge to make some jam. Just a pity I don't really like it that much :rotfl:
Off to check the flylady thread and get some cleaning done.
Hugs to those that need them.
Have good day OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

My dad used to put his green toms into a brown paper bag with one that was turning red, and put the bag into a kitchen drawer....seemed to work, as I can remember my mum moaning one year about the lack of green toms for chutney!
I guess thats the other option....green tomato chutney?2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Morning all
Hubby's had his breakfast & been dropped at work, still no chance of me getting to work, my room still isn't finished, I got a text at 10 last night to let me know.
Plans today will include making chicken pie's that didn't get done yesterday, my visitor stayed longer than expected, still it was nice to have a natter.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

The summer is nearly at an end and its really been another let down this year:mad:
The twins are doing well and thay have not come down with the sickness bug that me and my wife had. Which im very suprised about as i relly was expecting them to.
The twins are off to my moms and dads house today. And my wife is offf to work.
Dont know what im going to do with myself im really running out of things to do with myself.
Thats the trouble when you have always workd and then you dont work for 8 months you in the end run out of them little jobs around the house that never get done:D
I sent an email off yesterday to my local headyway. Headway is a uk charty that helps with brain injury. i.e. car crashies, strokes, brain tumors and such.
Well i dont wont to use any of there services (yet) But what i have done is volateer my sevices. Thourt id like to do some vol work to keep busy and get me out of the house a bit. And i keep thinking and thinkiing about it but do nothing so yesterday i took to plunged and askd. Not heard nothing back as of yet. But if thay are not intested then there are others out there that are. Iv been on the do-it web site. and there are quite a few chartys around by me that are looking for a bit of help. So ill give headway a few days as i would relly like to help them as its to do with the brain and iv got a bit of a vested intrest with that:D. Anyway ill give them a few days and if thay are not intrested then ill try one of the others.
Lunch for me today will be cold pork sandwichies with left over pork from sunday.
Not sure about dinner tonight. need to have a think about that one.
well i hope that you all have a great day everyone
Enjoy yourslefs:j:j
