I know how you feel about flowers NIM. I was the same. OH got what she wanted.

Her dress was made in China - she made it easy as she got the design from buying off ebay and sent her sizes over (in chinese which helped).

Venue - We did the registry office as we didn't want the church wedding. We used the Marriott hotel and the coordinator was very good. Always available to answer questions and she surprised us on the day with champagne when we got there.

Transport - OK the cars cost a bit but worth it. I managed to organise a bus through somebody at work at a better rate.

Cake - M&S is the way to go and the hotel let us drop it off the day before.

D&J - Easily sourced and was very good and played the music my friends from work prvoided on a list. Kept them amused all night.

Suit - Slaters have a lot to answer for there. Went well over budget but OH said it was ok and I have used it for intereviews since then (it got me my new job here).

Sounds like you have managed to make a few compromises Dinah which is great . That is great NIM is involved , apart from with the flowers haha.

My friends sisters gig was really good yesterday, they had the most people there out of all the bands. Got some bad news about one of my other friends little sisters though, she has got cancer and had to have a major operation a couple of weeks ago and they don't think she will be here much longer :-(

Coming out of lurkdowm to say I agree with Poolie on M&S wedding cakes - they are truly scrumptious, I had a layer of fruit and a sponge layer which was served as pud with lots of berries and cream. Yum! Not everyone's style I know, but there's not much I'd have changed about my wedding, except maybe my choice of groom.....as he burgered off less than a year later, leaving me literally holding the baby!! Silly man
  • Sorry to hear about your groom Kittikins. Sounds like a very silly man :(

Wendz - sorry to hear about your friends little sister

Hi all! I don't think I'm going to the designer clearance sale thingy this weekend, I've only got £4.63 in my current account after changing all of my money into pesos! Eek! Time to move some money around!

I've got a plan to make some extra money, I'm going to make Christmas cards and sell them at work (and maybe get my Mum to sell some at her work...), I was thinking packs of 5 for £4... what do you think? I think I'm going to start making some today! I'm also thinking about getting the word out about Wedding Scrapbooks. After looking at wedding albums it kind of struck me that it's only the wedding day that features, but what about the engagement party, and trying on dresses and the honeymoon? And all of the memorabilia that comes with it, like invites and cards and personalised napkins etc! I know how much I love my scrapbook and I think it's a really nice, personal and interesting way to document your life...or your wedding! A woman I work with has said she wants me to make one for her son who gets married next year so I'll see how it goes!

I'm sorry to hear about your friend's sister Wendz, it seems like everyone is touched by cancer somehow nowadays, it's really awful. I've heard that my brother's best friend from primary school has cancer, I hope it's a simple 'snip off the melanoma thingy and move on' but I don't really have the details so I don't know how serious it is :(

Kittikins, sorry to hear about your horrid ex, I believe in Karma and he'll get what's coming to him!

Sound slike a good idea Birdie, if they are nice (which I am sure they will be ) people would be happy to pay.

So many people around me seem to be affected by cancer, is just so sad she is just 20. We are just being there for my friend as much as possible, not much you can do in these situations.

    Afternoon everyone!

Sorry to hear about your friend's sister Wendz :( It's so sad.

I like the sound of the wedding scrapbooks Birdie, I'd buy one if I was getting married and knew of someone doing it! The christmas cards sound like a good moneymaking scheme too.

Me and OH have been shopping but I didn't buy anything except cat food! Now have an afternoon ahead of backing up all my files, and tidying my room. Fun fun.
