Did you manage to get any of the New Look patterns in the sale Tete? I had a look at some of the vogue ones, so nice but a lot more expensive!

So, latest idea for the wedding. What do people think about this for the honeymoon (check out the dossier, I've googled some of the hotels - omg!), followed by a week in the Maldives for complete luxury and bliss???

Dinah - that honeymoon does look amazing , you wold definitely need some relaxation time afterwards though!

Thanks Tete - think they are all holding up OK, the girl doesn't know how long she has left at the family think its best she doesn't (she does know it is terminal though). It is one of those situations where you feel so helpless.

Your OH sounds like a star buying you bits aww.

Pilchard - glad the extension has stopped for now, sounds like a very annoying situation. Bless your OH all crashed out.

I have just cleaned the bathroom and kitchen so having a relax now, need tot hink of what to make for dinner,

Hi Dinah - it looks brill. We went with Imaginative Traveller for our honeymoon to Borneo and didn't find that it was great value for money. The standard of accomodation varied a lot and one place was downright horrible. They did they refund us for that bit of the honeymoon but I think if we had organised the trip ourselves we would have paid half the price.

I should mention that we did enjoy the honeymoon itself (just a bit ripped off) and the country and orangutans were amazing :)

WOW Dinah, honeymoon looks amazing! I love that site, I hadn't seen it before. Plus the maldives, that would be perfect.

I am feeling a bit guilty after not doing anything at all this weekend, just been finishing my book for book club tomorrow. Had a big chat with OH about houses. We have got a £30k deposit now, but my wages aren't great being part time and OH really fluctuates with his freelance business. The monthly repayments for a 1 bedroom flat would be almost too much for us, and in our area it is still cheaper to rent by £100 - 200pm. We still share a house so we decided to move out and get a flat together. I am excited to not have to worry about doing the naked dash to the loo at midnight anymore!!! Haha! It's the small things in life, eh?

Have a nice evening everyone. Hi Pilchard - sounds like things are going well x

Do you have any idea which standard of trip you went for CMD? That is my concern to be honest, which is why I've gone for a honeymoon one not a normal one because all the hotels on that one look stunning. I don't know how we'd get around if it wasn't an organised trip tbh, otherwise I would consider booking it ourselves. Intrepid Travel have some amazing looking trips but they all seem to be of one level, and I do like the honeymoon level which is all chauffeur driven, exclusive and in the really romantic resorts!

I'd never dare do a naked dash to the loo - far too chilly!!! Serious note, will be great for you to get your own place.

NIM had a bit of a word with his dad this weekend, his dad has indicated he won't be helping out with the wedding, but will with the house. So that calms me a bit that I don't have to stress about both!

We have decided I'm taking over the fiances again, NIM doesn't have time and they get him a bit stressed and it builds up whereas I have time to do a little every day. I told him his focus needs to be the course right now, which he agreed with!

So as we stand at the moment we have roughly:
    £1100 debt
    £166 wedding fund
    £7026 house deposit
£40 Amazon vouchers towards new house stuff
Sadly we can't move savings to pay off debt as everything but the wedding fund is locked in. But we have a lot more savings than we realised by just over a grand! Plus we didn't realise we had any wedding savings left.

We're toying with whether to pay the £166 off the credit card, or save it as we'll need to put down a venue deposit soon. However thats going to have to go on the credit card anyway to protect us in case something happens to the venue, plus we're obviously sort for it, so I think we should just pay the £166 onto it now, lower the balance a little.

We picked the honeymoon standard trip and we were given personal guides and supposed chauffeurs - which were basically a lift in a mini-van. We also thought that the standard of accommodation varied and that we could have hired a personal guide for cheaper. We still had an amazing time but didn't feel that we were made to feel that special. On one part we stayed at Rose Cabin, which was a prefab and we got dinner in what only could be described as a truckers cafe.

The price of our trip was the same price as yours (approx 1550 per person - although it may be gone up now) but you might get more for your money in Sri Lanka cos it isn't as far away as Borneo.

As I mentioned, we had a brilliant time but couldn's shake off that 'ripped off feeling' at the end of it and this was at a time when I spent money like it was going out of fashion and generally didn't worry about the cost of things.

However, it was 3 years ago and the standard may vary from country to country. Just thought it would be good to let you have an honest opinion on it :)

Nol thanks for telling me CMD, am going to try to find some reviews online of people who have been on their trips, preferably this exact one!

Have paid the £166 off the CC now, so no wedding fund to speak of, but look how close we are to 25% of our house deposit! We'll be over 1/4 the way there on payday. Plus thats the 30k dream target, not the 18k minimum, we'll be at over 40% of that on payday!

That is good to hear NIMs dad will be helping out with the house, at least that means you can conenetrate on the wedding more.
