And I love you all for that

Had a lovely evening with my friend and a bottle of wine.

Toots - I need a living room star please - only room I plan to level 3 in

Jinky hugs sweetie, tears are good, they get rid of chemicals in the body - I'm not sure of your age but could it be the onset of the big M (can start about 10 years before the end of the road)

Fee I cannot imagine how your world has been shattered but I can send you love and coping vibes

Valli - I've visited your thread

Piggers I agree wholeheartedly about the summer being too long 7 weeks off all bar a day for mine. It has been lovely for the past 5 weeks but enough is enough. They want to be back at school now and I want them back too! Gone are the days when kids were needed at home to get the harvest in so I see no need for such an extended break. Half terms are often not long enough so I'd make all of them a fortnight and knock 3 weeks off of the summer break.

I don't agree with this because we all start our training and careers with expectations however unrealistic they may turn out to be but until you're in the job you aren't aware of the realities, the politics, the subtle, hidden pressures etc. However by then, contracts are signed, bills need to be paid, and it's really not an option for those who have done 4/5/6 years of hard academic study and training to then look for another career option. It's not feasible for most.

Many places in Europe appear to have a better work/life/school holiday balance with many jobs that are term time working only. This I think would be a far preferable way to work.

I think in the UK you are punished whatever you do, work, not able to work, study, whatever, our system is designed to keep you trapped. It's very, very hard to have options.

Teaching is supposed to be about teaching not hitting fruggin performance indicators.

    **steps off soapbox**:D

    Flying wise I've done nowt.:rotfl:

Indeed.. but every job has its downsides that is why they pay people to do them. If they were fun people would want to do them for free and noone would do anything else... yeah.. lets all be wine tasters!! But who would plant & pick the grapes and make the wine? I all makes sense in the broad scheme of things and who in the world actually likes all aspects of their job? XH loves the creative part of his job, the dealing with employees, the drawing and template making, the going out and looking at old buildings and learning about the history but he hates the paperwork and is answerable to the MD. I can do anything so long as I know exactly what I am doing and don' have to deal with other people. At college I was told quite categorically do NOT do nursing your bedside manner is non-existant.. lol... I'd make a fab consultant though :p

I agree the performance things do put added pressure on but is that really so different to getting the most from any oher service?

Other places in Europe have 3 months off for summer too... Spain for example where it is too freaking hot to go out!:eek::eek::eek: Shall we stick to 7 weeks? lol

I cannot sleep! Been awake since 3.50am, I've read my book, and pottered about a bit.

Greenbee thanks for the eggs answer. I do love the aga, but it's taking time to get used to, I don't like not being able to whack up the temperature if I need to.

Hi Toots, you text away lovie... I love hearing from you. (((hugs)))

We went to this beach yesterday. This blog is not mine btw, the pics are not my family! :) But it does show the beach nicely, although it was a lovely sunny day yesterday.

The girls and I swam!!!! It was gorgeous. I love sea swimming, and, as it was almost deserted, certainly no-one else on the beach with us, I took my cossie off, ( once I was safely and deeply in the water I hasten to add ) and skinny dipped.... much to the girls horror    :D:D:D I love embarrassing them.

It's still dark at the moment, and the house is so quiet!! Give it an hour and it'll be really noisy, and I'll be knackered!!!

(((((Hugs))))) to all that either need or want them

[FONT=&quot]I did our bathroom on my cleaning frenzy a couple of nights ago and consider it acceptable to mark as done. Funny thing is when I do the rooms now I do them with Pigpen's list in mind and try to do things a bit more thoroughly than perhaps I used to sometimes!
I have taken defrag off as the laptop was recovered just last week and so not needing a defrag just now ;). I did mark filing as some mail came yesterday and I also took 20 mins sorting through car related papers. As for tidying a shelf/cupboard....well I went through some stuff in one of our massive bathroom storage boxes, so hope that is a good substitute.
Hope all flyers (and shirkers lol) are feeling ok and thanks again Pigpen for the list and Toots for the stars :D.
